WHO'S NO. 2?: Coastal Carolina, picked to finish second in the league behind Winthrop, is off to a poor start at 0-2 in the league and 6-7 overall.

The Chanticleers, under first-year coach Buzz Peterson, lost by 11 at VMI and by 20 at High Point. Coastal is 6-0 at home, 0-7 on the road. The Chants have lost 12 straight road games, including seven straight in league play.

Despite returning conference player of the year Pele Paelay and freshman of the year Jack Leasure, Coastal has not played up to expectations, thanks mostly to the lack of an inside game and no help off the bench.

Perhaps it's frustration, but last week Peterson told the Myrtle Beach Sun News "there's no way we should have been picked second in this league."

Don't worry about it. We've been piling on the guy for about a week now... I wouldn't give him such a hard time if he hadn't acted like he got screwed when he left.
