I hope mods don't throw this into the Gruden thread, cuz I think it's an interesting topic about the outlook on our program..

Over the past few bad years I've increasingly seen on this site, people questioning whether UT is an Elite/Top Level job anymore, ect, ect... Basically the Chicken Little Mentality; that UT isn't what we think it is and people around the country don't see it as so either.

Well I'm saying this, I think it is elite.. Lex said it in the Gruden thread... Gruden is currently THE FACE of American Football. Gruden showing interest in coming here, and if he did come here, would instantly put our program (in the eyes of the national public) back to the elite of the elite level.

So what I'm saying is apart from wins and losses... When the "The Face of Football" comes to your school... you can kiss the chicken little mentality goodbye. That's what excites me most about the Gruden proposition.. The excitement and attention that would surround this program would be off the charts.

What say you guys?

Top 10 in all major categories. We ARE elite. Success didn't come overnight, it won't leave overnight. We'll be back.

I say make him the offer, and take the program back to where it belongs. I think we're all tired of getting smashed every weekend.

I couldn't agree with you more, it will take a Gruden hire to bring back the excitement and pride that real vol fans harken for! At present Tennessee football is on life support.
Tennessee can be Tennessee once again!

It might die until Gruden loses his first game. Then you'll have the same people coming out of the woodworks to piss and moan about how we over paid a coach who can't coach and any other complaint under the sun. In this day of media over-exposure, every team's flaws and every coach's flaws are discussed ad nauseum. That won't die, ever.
