Coming in at #21 after a 4-1 start.

The last ranking they had was a #22 ranking which they lost after Iowa State beat them Nov. 12, 2005.

They haven't finished a season ranked, though, since 2002.

And that's not changing any time soon

Yep, although they did beat Michigan State on Saturday. Probably their biggest win in many years.

Kevin Wilson is 23-42 in 6+ years and has only won 9 conference games. Still their coach and isn't particularly on a hot seat. Really illustrates the difference in expectations between different schools, doesn't it?

If they had beaten Wake Forest, they might have snuck in after beating Michigan St.

They play Ohio St. Saturday so yeah, not happening.

Good to hear. CU is doing well and in the PAC12 of all places. Although I do miss the old days of the Big 8 and their annual game against Nebraska.

Well, to be fair, some of that lack of a hot seat is last year he got that program to a bowl game for the first time since 2007, and considering the state of that program, doing that probably warrants some job security there.

Even though they're not winning against all the big opponents - they've got the misfortune as a smaller program of being in the OSU, Michigan, Michigan State half of the conference - they've at least closed the gap enough to be competitive conpared to almost a decade of blowouts against those types of schools...last year saw OSU only won by 7, Iowa only won by 8, and Michigan's win came in double overtime.

The last time Indiana was even close to good enough to play some of those teams that closely: 1993 for OSU, 2009 for Michigan, the program hadn't beaten a non-awful Michigan State since 2001 (heck beating/playing Purdue close wasn't even a given prior).

The year they blew out Nebraska and the Huskers made it to the BCS title game anyway. I think it a as 2000 or 2001. Seems like they had about 500 rushing yards in that game.

2001. They made it there because Tennessee choked against LSU in Atlanta.

Well, it was because both UT choked against LSU in the SEC Championship and Texas choked against Colorado in the Big 12 Championship that same weekend.

The ran all over Nebraska's blackshirt defense that day.

Then after the beating they received at the hands of CU that evening, 2 weeks later they were selected to be in the MNC game. There was disagreement everywhere with that matchup, mainly because many wondered how a team that didn't win it's own conference and was blown out 2 weeks prior, be selected for the Rose bowl title game.

Miami proved everyone right a few weeks later.

Good for them and classy coach. He could easily have been a jerk and told Sheiron Jones he was making him take a transfer penalty to sit to go back to Tennessee. However he decided let the kid go back and be happy even though it cost his team an available scholarship this season. I'd love for them to compete in the Pac12 title game.

Nobody was going to beat that Miami team.

No, it wasn't the same weekend.

Texas lost to Colorado the week before on Dec 1, and that game was over before the UT/Florida game was over. That is why several UT players had roses after beating Florida because it was then known winning the SEC Championship meant a spot in the Rose Bowl for the Vols.

It's true Texas choked and would have made the Rose Bowl with a win, but UT knew for a week beating LSU would mean a shot at Miami.

Not same weekend. Texas choked the weekend when Vols were busy draining the swamp. Vols choked the next weekend.
