Don't discount the team that Coach Pearl left at UW-M though... I grat you the curse, but those guys get some credit.

Is Jerry Green on the staff or is he the Director of Basketball Operations?

Also, as crappy as his coaching skills were during the games, at least he could recruit good enough players that he could just throw the ball on the court and say, 'play' to the tune of 20 wins a year....wait, isn't that what Calipari does at Memphis?

That might be giving Green a little too much credit. Most of those players were recruited by Oneil, even though Green did re-recruit Tony Harris. I also don't give him credit for Yarborough, as Oneil was savvy enough to sign his brother. He can have Marcus Haislip, I suppose, although I doubt he would've come without those other players.

In looking back at my post, I think I might have misspelled every single name except Harris and Green.

Yeah. Cal can't coach. That's how UMASS went from being THE worst program in D-1 to going to the Final Four. You shouldn't hate on a guy just because he's rich and successful.

The Director of Basketball Operations is part of the staff. In a Sooners Illustrated article, Sampson was bragging about how much he was going to lean on ol' Jerry for advice. Serves him right.

His Memphis teams have underachieved some, in my opinion due to the Billy Donavon disease where you recruit so well that you never have any juniors or seniors because they bailed on you, but it is hard to argue with his success. I thought he had the best team in the nation in '96 but couldn't beat an outstanding Kentucky team that it had blown out earlier in the year.

No, I don't like him because he's a smug little arrogant New York type of guy who obvously spends too much time on his hair.

Ditto for Donavon.

That was sweet. SD did everything right, but the ball bounced the wrong way.
