I awoke this morning still bummed, very dissapointed. Last night I was posting out of emotion about the coaching, and while I still feel there are some shortcomings there all things considered they're just human beings doing the best they can under tremendous pressure. I think its because as a Vol fan I expect perfection because the talent we have, wasted opportunity. Since we won the whole thing in '98 we as Vol fans have a higher expectation, and farther to fall when defeat comes. I congratulate the Gators on the win, and apologize to my fellow nation posters for my texted emotion. Go Vols!...we'll get 'em next year. :ill_h4h:

The D played great. I think we proved that UM's scheme is just a gimmick. They had two good drives, even though they consistenly got the ball on OUR END, and then only scored 17?!?! With that field position? They should ave hung 35 on us, but our D took care of business, got tired late.

Special teams play has GOT to improve, and they have to remember what we came out to do... RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE!

It was 1 helluva defensive game from both teams , our offense sucked except for 1 drive (pick a QB!!!) I was not impressed by Myer's offense(and I think Ga will tear them a new one, and us too if we don't correct some problems) and we do not deserve to call our kicking game "special" we were very unspecial last night and it cost us the game. Having saud all that, its time to get behind our boys (and coaches ) and get ready for LSU!

Agreed, Jr.

Where was this Urban Myth offense?

If we cut down on our fumbles and other problems, we win that game by a td or two.

I was not impressed by any means by it nor am I remotely afraid of the future with him at the helm

It appeared pretty affective on that TD score...fooled the UT D completely. However, if you expect to see the same Offense as Alex Smith ran last yr you will not...Meyer tailors it around his playmakers. Obviously Leak is not an option QB so it will just be used enough to make the D think about it and he will use his strengths in the passing game and take advantage of a good Gator D!

And our offense was very effective on our TD scoring drive too. One drive doesn't make a game.

Urban Myth's offense was shut down.

Welcome to the SEC, Urban. Where teams doesn't sit back on option offenses and let you score 40 on them

With a good D and special teams it doesn't take 40 to win in the SEC...just one more than the opponent! :devilsmoke:

No doubt. But with that offense being shut down as it was last night, the Urban Myth will lose games at a much faster rate then Croc fans will want to see

Good thing is we dont play teams with the caliber of D that UT has every week so we'll be just fine! :peace2:

With your O and loss of McDonald, it may not be such a joy ride week after week with your D

;)

Yeah it definitely hurt our depth on the DL. UF has been rotating several in and out this yr..they'll have to step up for sure.

Urban Myer is more than a system, he is a way of coaching. We loose this game last year because we could not sustain effort for more than 2-1/2 quarters of football. Urban preaches accountability, responsibility, and focus. All of which were on display last night. You coach to your teams talents and strengths and we have only been together for 9 months. I am glad you are not scard with Urban at the helm. I am sure you were not very afraid of a Duke coach coming in 15 years ago either. Not saying UM is the second coming, but you can win with defense just a much, if not more, as you can with offense. The offense will come, it is much more complicated than the defense to teach. Last year we lose this one, so you can call him a Myth all you want but the reality was on the scoreboard.

Can i nominate this for post of the year? UM WILL be successful in the SEC, and if everyone thought that UM was going to the option all night you are in need of mental screening. I think UT had the talent edge, but UF has the heart edge. UM coached against the best team he has ever encountered last night and my hat goes off to him. Once his offensive system starts playing to its full ability you can bet the farm on more than 16 points on the board against a solid SEC defense. UT abandoned the run last night, and i couldnt believe some of the play calling. All in all, i enjoyed the game and i am looking forward to Oct 1. RTR
