Local band from Knoxville. If you haven't heard of them then you're missing out.

New album, "Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies", drops August 14th.

Love the Guvs. Only a matter of time before the hit it real big. They are real genuine guys, too.

It blows my mind that they've gotten so big. I know I'm in the minority here, but I just don't see what's so special about them. Pretty lackluster IMO.

That being said, they're not bad at all. I just don't like them.

Not my cup-a. Sounds like a band that college age chicks would dig.

Just got the new album today. I don't like it as much as the last, but that's expected from most bands' second offering. It's still a great up-beat southern rock album, and I'll be shocked if they aren't big on the national stage soon.

Heard there is a free concert in Market Square tomorrow night. That being said, they're not my cup of tea.

I'd go. I've seen them live and always enjoy it. They aren't one of my favorite bands, but they're good to listen to.

Finally heard this. I'll start by saying, I've never understood what all the fuss is about. Musically, they aren't bad. They never sounded very authentic to these ears, but they aren't bad musicians. I've never felt the singer meaning, he doesn't sound real an natural to me. He sounds forced. It's as if he is channeling every one of his influences, but never quite getting there and never finding his own voice. Regardless, with their last album I thought, "not good, but not bad."

This new album is a different story. It's bad. They have totally went in the pop/rock direction to help make it big. It's obvious. Anything that felt real about them before is gone with this album. They sound like Train (puke!) meeting up with Hootie and the Blowfish trying to sound like the Black Crowes and failing at it.

All that being said, this is the kind of mediocrity that moms and sorority girls eat up (again, Train is popular despite the fact that they are awful for this reason), so I'm sure that this one will break them to a much bigger audience. It's obvious that that's what they were shooting for, so good on 'em.

I catch a lot of local shows in Knoxville and there are much better bands out there.

Black Cadillacs are the real deal. Them and DG's are playing a free concert tomorrow in market square.

Think the first place I heard them was opening at the Foothills Fall Festival 4 years ago or so. I was very impressed. It has been cool to watch them sort of rise to popularity, and I don't think their rise is over yet.

Glad I'm not the only one. I totally thought I was gonna get castrated for suggesting that they're not that great.

No man, you aren't alone my friend. Like you said they aren't bad musicians.. they just don't stand out. Sound like 98% of the crap out there.. which is a bad thing.

I'm often throwing out a lot of criticism about music, but I'm going to post some of my band's music at some point, and everyone can let me have it :) I already know most people aren't going to like it because it's kinda progressive metalish/alternative.

Was thinking about making a thread promoting our next show, but it's on Aug. 31st, and I see little point in trying to get people here on VN to come to the only place on the strip that won't be showing the UT game (Longbranch). Maybe I'll just mention it in the basketball forum.

Do it man, just make a thread. Some will like it, some won't.. Judging by all the DG fans you may have more haters haha

My brother's band plays Longbranch all the time. You may know him.
