A lot of people in Fulton County, Georgia were all to happy to see Truist Park go up in Cobb County and have no regrets because the Braves were being unreasonable to the Fulton County taxpayers. Now the Cobb County tax payers can provide police protection, deal with the massive traffic issues when the game is over etc. all while forcing non-baseball fans to fund the baseball park. Also, know that the Braves will again ask for massive amounts of money in 18-20 or whatever number of years or they will threaten to leave like they did to Fulton County.Increased ticket and concessions prices more than likely. Additionally, there is a reason these pro teams are building entertainment districts instead of stand alone stadiums. It allows the team to recoup money in other ways than before. The Braves did the exact same thing with The Battery. They made $59M from The Battery just last season. Truist Park cost is a separate issue because taxpayers are having to pay for that and that is unfortunate. All pro teams should fund their own projects imo but it seems Illinois did it right from outside looking in.
I agree on all that. The one silver lining now is that Liberty Media split off the Braves so they are the only publicly traded MLB team with a new ownership structure. Liberty Media technically still owns the Braves but the Braves are a separate company now. Hopefully things will change next go around.A lot of people in Fulton County, Georgia were all to happy to see Truist Park go up in Cobb County and have no regrets because the Braves were being unreasonable to the Fulton County taxpayers. I love the Braves, but think it's ridiculous to fund stadiums for their billionaire owners on the back of taxpayers who can barely afford to go to a ball game. Flip side is that it makes watching college ball all the better. What's going on in Tenn is kind of historic imo. Vols may end up with one of the few baseball fan bases that is so big, so strong, that it is self sufficient and not reliant on football money.
I did NOT know that, so thanks for that !I agree on all that.
