I think food and gas prices is starting to take affect on the economy. Something has to give, because it's going to get worst before it gets better.

I keep waiting for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to save us from high gas prices.

Maybe Bush will invade Iran now, maybe that will help.

Didn't Pelosi sweep into power on the promise that the new Dem controlled Congress would lower fuel prices? The average price has risen well over $1 since she took over. If that's what Dem leadership is all about, I'll pass.

...because clearly the inflated real estate markets, subprime lending crisis and weak dollar are all Bush's fault.

Who is responsible for the enormous deficit spending that is the main reasons for the weak dollar? Should we not epect our President to address the nations problems?

It's mainly the war in Iraq and who's idea was that?

Not necessarily. I agree that the war has been an expense, but you also have to realize that Federal spending across the board has increased under Bush and this Congress. Even with the military engaged in Iraq, it still remains about 19% of gross outlays for 2006. See page 86

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf

2. National defense, veterans, and foreign affairs: About 19% of outlays were to equip, modernize, and pay our armed forces and to fund the Global War on Terrorism and other national defense activities; about 3% were for veterans benefits and services; and about 1% were for international activities, including military and the maintenance of U.S. embassies abroad.

Where as in 1998, the military budget was 15%. See page 56

2. National defense, veterans, and foreign affairs:
2. National defense, veterans, and foreign
affairs: $323 billion. About 15% of
total outlays were to equip, modernize, and
pay our armed forces and to fund other national
defense activities; about 2% went for
veterans benefits and services; and about 1%
went for international activities, including
military and economic assistance to foreign
countries and the maintenance of U.S. embassies abroad.
