Nevada, Michigan, Michigan St., Purdue, Washington, USC, Boston College, Washington St., Navy, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Stanford. That, folks, is Notre Dame's football schedule(with legitimate opponents in bold). With a schedule that easy, how do they always seem to get so much love and respect from the pollsters?? Purdue lost to NIU...heck that better be a win for them! I don't see how Weis isn't on the hotseat if he loses any more than 1 or 2 games. They have an easy road compared to teams in BCS conferences. Let's put the fighting Irish in the SEC, the Big 12, or the Pac-10 even!!...and see how they fare. I guarantee you they would be surprisingly mediocre.

Did I miss a thread saying the same thing? Just frustrates me how they get all this admiration based on their tradition, not the current state of the program

you and everyone else all season has been talking about how much of a breeze their schedule is before this season even started :p

Course college football's all about tradition for the big schools and most likely always will be till some sort of major change in the balance of power occurs

Well touche sir, but I guess great minds think alike :peace2: If they lose more than 4 games I say Weis is out the door, with nothing than a commemorative XXXXXXL shirt saying "Thanks for playing". That's all Willingham got

I think he needs a win or a very decent showing in a BCS bowl win to keep his job. If he loses 4 he joins Fulmer at unemployment buffet.

Well I was originally going to say if he lost more than 2 games he would be out the door...but 10-2 won't get you fired at any school, no matter how easy your schedule is. Ahh the benefits of picking and choosing your opponents every week! Weis better be thankful he doesn't have to deal with tough conference play week in and week out. He would have been gone years ago. I agree though, Notre Dame is built on winning traditions...it could be BCS or bust for the big fella

The real question is can Notre Dame ever make it back to being an elite program?

EDIT: And WHY are they still a six-star prestige program in NCAA 10?!
