We may have to change the name with all the recruits coming.

that's 7 so far in one class. I expect Williams to switch to Ole Miss, but his spot could very well be replaced by Christian Jones.

I think Jeff Luc is ours to lose and by multiple reports, Hialeah teammates Corey Lemonier and Calvin Smith are ours to lose as well.

There continue to be reports that Gore could be our RB if we miss out on Dyer. I don't think Tennessee swings Dunkley in the end.

Grades are a concern for a couple of these players as well, but Tennessee is still recruiting some WR's from Florida who could replace a lost player.

With 7 now, considering grades and de-commitments, Tennessee will probably finish with 9-10 Florida players in this class.

These guys must not know how to eye gouge with the best of them therefor they weren't deemed good enough to be Gators.

I like getting FL players because you know they will be even more fired up to stick it to the hometeam gators!

The title should read "The Tennessee VOLS of Florida". LOL JK

We could easily lose 3 of the prospect that you listed.

I completely forgot about Chaz Green who seems to be a UT lean by all accounts now. That would put the number between 10 & 11 by signing day.

FSU's many struggles have a lot to do with us even having a shot at C Jones.

We are in Smith's top-2, who said yesterday that there's a 95% chance that they'll play together. With reports Illinois is fading with Lemonier, it doesn't take much of a leap to figure out how they'd be able to stay together.

Reports from the Hialeah camp have Corey as a "silent" to canes with Ivan McCartney.

Why is that strange? We're coming off a disastrous 5-7 season and now 4-4 overall and under water in conference. People are buying into a vision with programs like ours and Miami's.

That's what I keep hearing---

parents are UT grads, so obviously like the school. they were unhappy with UT's decline, but Kiffin has shown he can deliver on the field. I've heard the parents don't like how UF's offense doesn't prepare OL for the NFL. I've also heard reports that Green told current players during his official visit that he would be in orange. I've heard nothing recently to suggest Florida will pull this off in the end.

These programs had about comparable talent I would argue when the coaches took over. Both have tons of players in the NFL. Miami has a built in recruiting advantage, Miami also has an easier schedule due to a weaker conference.

In Shannon's first year...

The second game was a 51-13 loss to the University of Oklahoma in a nationally televised game, one of the most lopsided defeats in the program's history.

48-0 loss at home to a UVA team ranked comparably to South Carolina.

Lost six of last seven to not qualify for a bowl game.

Lane Kiffin first year:

4-4 at this point. Most will be disappointed if we did not finish with at least 7 wins. We may live up to my prediction of 8 wins. Most are expecting a bowl victory. We played the number 1 team on the road twice and lost by a missed FG and by 10 points.

Look at Shannon year two:
7-6 and losing to Cal in the freaking Emerald Bowl! Lots of people saw that game as poorly coached.

When he lost to Florida he cried about Urban Meyer running up the score...They lost 26-3.

He also collapsed again late in the season against unranked guys.

Then Randy Shannon follows this up by having a ton of his recruits quit on him. This is not the same as Kiffin running off the weak and the fat from the Fulmer era, this is his guys who he recruited quitting on him because they did not like him. Marve and his father which caused some strain with other HS coaches, then both his backup QBs leave because they know Jacory is the man. He has also burned through 3 defensive coordinators in 3 seasons.

Contrast that with Coach Kiffin.

If Coach Kiffin mirrored in any way the performance of Shannon, he would not last at UT. He is nothing like Randy and is bringing in a class that Shannon can only dream of.

Miami then received an invitation to the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco, where the Hurricanes fell 24-17 to Cal. Shannon was widely criticized for the team's clock management in the game

What is the vision in Miami? Continued mediocrity in a middling conference?

This is not vision time in Miami it should be results time.

If midway through 2011 Kiffin has 8 conference wins and 12 conference losses, no one will be "buying in" and his conference is harder. Shannon sucks as a head coach.

Status updates for UF’s top recruiting prospects

Rather than write you a long, worthless introduction, just go ahead and make the jump for a ton of recruiting news on the following recruits: Matt Elam, Jeff Luc, Chaz Green, Christian Green, Chris Dunkley, Kardon Boone, James Louis, Cody Riggs, Lamarcus Joyner, Sharrif Floyd and Ronald Powell.


- Yes, five-star safety Matt Elam (West Palm Beach, FL) visited the Florida State Seminoles this past weekend. That is not a rumor. Does that have any affect on his future as a member of the Florida Gators? Not in the least. After a heart-to-heart with head coach Urban Meyer, Elam reaffirmed his commitment to the Gators and should be attending the University of Florida this spring to get a head start on next season.

- Four-star linebacker Jeff Luc (Port St. Lucie, FL) looks to be deciding between Florida and the Tennessee Volunteers. For a long time it was believed that Luc was a heavy Gators lean, but apparently Lane Kiffin and the Vols have made in-roads over the last few weeks. I still expect him to end up at Florida but would not be shocked if he jumped for Knoxville, TN.

- Many expected four-star offensive lineman Chaz Green (Tampa, FL) to have committed to the Gators by now as he has been leaning that way for months. Instead, Green took an official visit to Tennessee and came away impressed. Some state he is leaning that way now, but it’s probably a battle between the two. Green’s teammate of the same last name but no relation, four-star athlete Christian Green, has mentioned the Georgia Bulldogs as his leader though the Gators are still considered the heavy favorite to eventually land his services.

- Wide receiver Chris Dunkley (Pahokee, FL) is a four-star recruit who Florida has coveted for a while. While Dunkley is expected to wind up in the Orange & Blue, he has yet to commit and is being pursued heavily by Tennessee, Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Dunkley visited the Vols this weekend and liked what he saw. When asked who his leader was, he said he didn’t have one (in the past he had said Florida) but admitted he could end up seeing himself playing in Knoxville.

- Should Dunkley not sign with Florida, the coaching staff may turn up the pressure on four-star WRs Kardon Boone (Ocala, FL) and James Louis (Delray Beach, FL). Boone and Louis are committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Ohio State Buckeyes, respectively, but can both be swayed. Louis originally committed to the Gators, but the staff did not accept it as they are holding out hope to land Dunkley.

- Four-star cornerback Cody Riggs (Fort Lauderdale, FL) is still a heavy Gators lean even after taking visits to Tennessee, Georgia and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His five-star position-mate Lamarcus Joyner favors the Ohio State over Florida, FSU and Notre Dame.

- Five-star defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (Philadelphia, PA) is one of the top 10 recruits in the nation and is open to many of the top teams. The Gators are competing with the Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, South Carolina Gamecocks and North Carolina Tar Heels. Experts believe he will wind up at Florida or Ohio State.

- Last but certainly not least is five-star defensive end Ronald Powell (Moreno Valley, CA). Florida and the USC Trojans are fighting it out for his services. In the end, it may come down to location for Powell (meaning USC would get his commitment), but he has visited Gainesville, FL, on numerous occasions and plans to take another official visit before making a decision. He seems to have a strong relationship with Meyer, too.
