The source also said that Wesley is being unfairly blamed for Selby's change of heart and that the family actually was more concerned with off-the-court problems at Tennessee. Former Vol Ramar Smith was arrested in conjunction with an armed home invasion in March. He and Duke Crews had been thrown off the team in May 2008.

What a load of crap.

A very large load.

Ramar's March arrest has nothing to do with the current team.
They got kicked off - they're gone.

What it really boils down to is Pearl did not contribute to Selby as much as Wes did and his mommy is in charge, bottom line.

Did you read the article at all...? I do think the Pearl empathy vote thing is kinds funny though. Especially at first, when I thought it said sympathy.

The point of my reply was not sympathy for Pearl, my point is Pearl did not do what is necessary to hold onto his top recruit, whatever that might require. So someone else swooped in and took him. There is no gray area in this matter it is cut and dry.

It just seems weird to me that the head coach at Tennessee would ever have the ammunition to be the high bidder over others at bigger schools, even if some are scared off by attitude concerns. I guess I'm saying that this seems like it should have happened sooner. He only visited two places, but other coaches did know about him.

Performance speaks volumes over attitude concerns any day of the week. Most coaches feel they can either change the kid's attitude or they will take the trade off for wins. Until you can accept that 90% of the recruiting process never makes it to the public then situations like this will always seem as though the recruit chose one school or coach over another one. Why do you think kids are willing to travel so far from home to play ball like Negedu coming from California to Tennessee?

1) I doubt anybody thinks, or at least still thinks, that Pearl is a flawless coach.
2) I hope everybody has the same ultimate desires for the program.
----->
3) I think we just have different ideas on how to get there.
a) Some of us, including me, elect to support TCHBCAUTK.
b) Others choose the pinata approach.

Criticism of our coaches lack of effort toward recruiting this off season is understandable. I am a huge supporter of the program which in turn makes me a huge supporter of the coach and his staff no matter who it is. He screwed up by letting our prize PG get away from us. He has took heavy criticism for it and rightfully so. Now its time to see what Pearl can do to salvage his once highly touted recruiting class.

Based on the insanely defensive responses to anything remotely negative about Pearl, I would say a lot of people.

Most of Hat's posts are very critical of Pearl's coaching abilities, his lack of loyalty to his recruits, incompetence of Pearl's staff, even his obvious spray on tan which in Hat's posts he admits he has a deep dislike for Pearl as a coach and as a person in general. However if you look at Hat's positive posts about the Vols basketball it always refers to what the players have accomplished as a team such as his post game report from section 103 often does. It seems as if the team is struggling it's Pearl's fault, if the team is on a roll it's because the players are suddenly performing at a higher level and the coaching staff has nothing to do with it.
