Funny how this NCAA "cloud" has been hanging over USC for years and now, the week that Carrol leaves, they are going to be facing sanctions... Either Carrol knew something was coming, or the NCAA loved Carrol so much that they didn't want to touch him or USC.

Special treatment. It goes on a lot of places, like Bama, probably Florida and few other cash cow schools. Yeah all this isn't coincidence. NCAA plays dirty too.

Not anymore.. he turned it down and is staying in Jax for one more year.

As a Titans fan, this is fine by me. He is a bad coach. Constantly reading about players saying they don't like him or buy into his game plans.

I know everyone is tired of hearing about USuC but I just got word that the NCAA is going to severly punish SoCal. The meeting between the committee and the athletic dept is to take place today although I'm not sure when it will be made public. Some of us, including me, feared it would be a slap on the wrist or just a bama ruling (vacated wins) but this is going to be extensive. It will effect both football & basketball, perhaps other programs, the athletic director, scholarships, boosters access to the athletes, and maybe even camps. From the word I got the punishment will include sanctions that have not been issued before (at least not at this level). I was told the ruling will be "creative".

This will be important b/c it will help re-establish the NCAA rules and give the committee credibilty, which has suffered recently (and for good reason).

Regarding Kiffin, I suppose life does have a strange sense of irony. UT is better for having seen him leave. His play-calling (in)ability will be exposed and monte (God bless him) will struggle in the PAC-10 against the wide-open offenses (think ohio, ole miss, auburn for examples this past season).

One point I would like to make is that its a shame the true violators (reggie bush, oj mayo, etc) will not suffer any consequences themselves. This may not deter athletes going forward, as their haven is easy found in the high-paying professional rank. They & the boosters are the real culprits in my eye. USC simply turned a blind eye in many cases (maybe not all).

Now, granted, this info is from a second-hand source so take it with a grain of salt. At the very least, this will only confirm that God is indeed a UT fan and east TN is God's country!!

Go Vols! (Don't crucify me if this doesn't come to pass)

The only thing I would "crucify" you for is the suggestion that CLK isn't a good playcaller and that Monte can't use USC's talent and dominate the Pac10.

I don't like Lane. I despise what he did and what values those decisions exhibit and promote. HOWEVER, the guy is a first rate O schemer and play caller.

I wouldn't call Lane a "first rate schemer" in any stretch of the imagination. I can't see where he's that good of a playcaller or game manager. True, it is going to be a little different in the Pac 10 vs. the SEC. I think those two losses against UCLA and AL would have been won by Fulmer (provided he got us in those spots, which clearly he wouldn't have). When he was the OC in waiting at USC they did have some prolific offenses. He did recruit several of those players and will continue those successes. I think they will do well in the Pac 10. I don't think he was cut out for the SEC. I'm not mad anymore that he's gone. I was clearly on the Lane Train and am now clearly off of it. Really, in hind site I don't think leaving TN was the worst thing anybody's done to the program. Contact with the recruits showed the character he and his posse have, but all that is behind us now. Sure, "f" him, but we have football to play in the SEC. The Pac 10 is second rate and always will be.

What was the question again?

Go watch the 1st and goal series from the UCLA game and get back with me.
