I haven’t been on here today, so I’m not sure what the reaction has been here on VolNation. But alas, most of my family members and friends have completely conceded the CFP bid and have moved on to looking at NY6 Bowls.
Simply put, that’s ********. I get that some may not want to hear it right now. I get that it’s not what you want to hear after a loss to one of our biggest rivals, but we lost 27-13 (not that lopsided when you just look at the scoreboard) to what will likely be the No. 1 seed. We are still a 1 loss SEC team. We have victories over two top 10 teams, including one on the road.
Do we control our own destiny? No. But there are many opportunities for a shakeup amongst the top teams: Notre Dame has a solid shot against Clemson tonight, and I think TCU will drop one to Texas next week. Michigan will lose to Ohio State and will be left out.
I think we still have a very good chance (well above 50-50) of making the CFP. A Sugar Bowl would be wonderful, but if you’re giving up it’s extremely premature.
Go Vols. Let’s ride.
