So looking back at the games this weekend I have categorized the ranked and SEC teams:
The good:
#1 Bama = Better than I thought they'd be and that stinks.
#6 Ohio State = Dominant in every way against an inferior opponent.
#7 Michigan = See Ohio State
#14 Washington = Jumped them early and then went on cruise control.
#15 Houston = Fun and exciting and way more talented than people think. Herman is a young Urban Meyer.
#18 Georgia = Despite getting all the calls they were effective on offense and their defense held up against an offensive team being touted all off season.
#19 Louisville = Played a garbage team and did what they were supposed to.
#21 Oklahoma State = See Washington
#23 Baylor = See comments from Ohio State, Michigan and Louisville.
The state of TEXAS = Both A&M and UT2nd pulled off upsets at home against ranked opponents.
South Carolina = Even Vandy shouldn't lose to this team.
The bad =
#2 Clemson = Very flat and nearly lost to unranked Auburn, Had Malzahn taken the points when available this would've been a very different game.
#3 Oklahoma = Once again they live up to their top 5 curse. At least it was against a quality opponent.
#8 Stanford = Were outgained significantly by K State and lucky to get many calls in their favor including a tackle in the end zone that should've led to K-State touchdown but wasn't even flagged. Score doesn't indicate how this game was controlled by state.
#9 Tennessee = Came out flat and mistake prone. Did enough to win in second half but felt fortunate to escape.
#12 Michigan State = Very underwhelming performance and Furman had a chance to win in the 4th.
#13 TCU = This game had upset written all over till late.
#16 UCLA = Played hard but went to sleep in 2nd and 3rd Q which cost them.
#17 Iowa = Don't believe the score or the hype. They were outgained by Miami Ohio and are still the same Iowa that closed out last year.
#24 Oregon = Same crap different year. This team will continue to get worse each year after Kelly.
#25 Florida = Couldn't run against worst team in FBS. Lucky they have a kicker.
Arkansas = Played straight up by La Tech and lucky to escape.
Vandy = How do you get beat by a depleted USC team at home? If they weren't Vandy, I would've put them in category below.
The ugly:
#4 LSU = They get this category hands down. Were dominated at line of scrimmage. No offense at all and without the Wisconsin turnovers would've been blown out and shut out.
Mississippi State = Mullen's face said it all.
Missouri = They suck
Kentucky = Unbelievable they blew a 24 point lead at home and were utterly dominated by S. Mississippi in second half at home.
Very few in the "good" category. It was a rough first week for most ranked and SEC teams. Teams improve most from week 1 to week 2. We'll learn a lot after next weekend.
