I know that we have lost 3 games to 3 teams that we HATE to lose to and everyone is disappointed, but that's college football.

Since we have many threads focusing on the bad things, I thought that we might be able to make a couple of posts about the good things we saw from our team.

You can't say there is nothing good about our team, the good stuff is there and just overshadowed by the loss and disappointment.

So I will say that I was very pleased with effort and determination of Arian Foster.

Lucas Taylor had some good returns tonight and showed some promise as a return guy. He is young and will only get better at that.

Our defense just looked mean and nasty and I wish they could have scored for us tonight.

Next?

The play of the defense
The emergence of Arian Foster
We were able to run the football at key times to keep drives alive

Good topic. Defense will always be good with Chief in charge. Ainge has had a bad year, but with the tools he has he'llbe a good one...if not Crompton is in the wings. Good stable of RB's back. Foster showed his stuff. Everyone saw flashes of Hardesty. I'll say again...Coker will eventually be the man. This kid has shown some serious flashes and has speed to burn. Riggs is leaving. No matter what he does on the field, heis a cancer. The ship will right itself. Sometimes that "it" just doesn't materialize. The chemistry and leadership of the '98 bunch doesn't happen every year. Things will be fine...just hang in there.
P.S. Truce O and W?

no interceptions, Arian Foster, Wilhoit made a field goal.

One other thing I liked - - we played a majority of the time with a fullback and a tight end.

There was only 1 dropped ball by a receiver that I can remember (on that 4th down attempt).

Well, there was an interception but it didn't matter (last play)

Players never quit - while mistakes were made, they played hard.

:biggrin2: I can't blame the coaches tonight. We played well enough to win we just lost the breaks. It reminds me of those bama teams of 20 years ago that always had luck on their side. I hope it does not continue.

Forgot about that one. What was up with that call? In that situation I either try and hit a player in stride or try and hit an out pattern and get one more play. Not sure what the goal is in throwing a lob pass over the middle, 50 yards from the endzone.

There was another one. I think it was Hannon. It looked like a catch but hit the ground.

Still it's better than 20.

I liked that we finally had a semi-long pass completed to Swain. We finally got to see one of our talented WR's going for the ball in a mismatch.

   ...it wasn't breaks though it was ball protection...that's the one bad thing from today. They hold on to the ball it's a different game.

Will not continue. Bama is a rock-solid team; this year. Senior dominated - they have many guys that have spent 4 years on the field. The majority have had 3 years with the same offense and defense (personnel and coaches). We win next year.

My one bad thing: Bret Smith couldn't catch a cold naked in the snow.

I am not overly upset about the game. Both teams played hard and we played well enough to win. It was a game that both teams can be proud of and I will stand behind our guys for a good effort. If we protect the football, we win. Our coaches gave our guys a chance to win and that's all you can ask for a team that has problems. Hats off to John Chavis, a helluva performance again. I hate that it resulted in a loss. Kevin Simon played his ASS off tonight and I appreciate his heart.

wow what a concept-we actually put a fullback and two tight ends to block and we run it better!!
ok sorry about that but it was frustrating to see that when we could have been doing that the whole season but anyway:
1.Riggs showed a lot of heart esp. on the last run I really think he was hurt for most of the game and that's why he didnt play that well (for everyone talking **** about Riggs)
2.Arian Foster played extremely well and showed a lot of promise and if Riggs isnt ready to go Im confident he can play and be a really good back
3.Our offensive line got a lot of push and really knocked back their d for a lot of the game
4. Our defense played lights out and really controlled the game like usual
5. Did anyone see that catch Swain made--nice

Oddly enough, neither am I. I know it's en vogue to blame somebody whenever you lose, but this was a game where two teams just kept punching each other and eventually somebody got a break.

Even though I was right when I said if Clausen played the whole game we would lose- he really did a good job putting us in a position to win the game and had a very solid game

Our defense sacked Croyle and put some hits on him. I have to change my tune about Croyle being Mr. Glass, he played tough tonight.

Also I thought our D did a good job containing Darby for the most part.

I credit CPF for realizing real fast that his QB rotation was a really bad idea in that type of game.
