1. An opportunity that got away. Too many bad things happened that prevented a win. Multiple missed layups, blown assignments on defense, and missed box outs really hurt tonight.

2. The 1-3-1 was a really nice change up and it worked really well. However, the rotation for defensive rebounds is not where it needs to be to rely on it. It killed Tennessee tonight.

3. Jeronne Maymon made a bunch of hustle plays on the defensive end, and that was important, but he killed Tennessee offensively today, and in a game like this, Armani Moore would have been more valuable.

4. 9-17 from the free throw line. Huge difference right there that hurt Tennessee. For a team that's knocked down the FT's all year, this game came back to bite them.

5. Going to Jeronne Maymon down one with 3 minutes to go is bad coaching. That ball has to go to Jarnell and it resulted in a bad turnover, a three point shot for Frazier, and the game was over.

6. 18 offensive rebounds for Florida. I'd love to know what the last time that has happened under Cuonzo Martin.

7. Bernard King Player of the Game: Jarnell Stokes. Stokes was a beast tonight, and other than his free throws, played a really solid game. His offensive game tonight was impressive and he owned Patric Young on both ends.

8. Tennessee's defense was impressive tonight, except in one area. Three point defense. The rotation was a tad too slow. Florida hit a couple junk three pointers, but they were still easy looks.

9. Antonio Barton played his best game in a month. That's a big positive that hopefully gives him some confidence.

10. Tennessee had plenty of opportunities but good teams win games like this and the Vanderbilt game. Too many miscues in the last four minutes cost Tennessee again. Tennessee has a chance for a big win against Missouri on the road that can really give a boost for Tennessee and the tournament. We will see what happens. But they must perform better late in crunch time.

Maymon was really good on defense causing steals and blocking shots, but he was a train wreck on offense. It was a unique performance for sure.

I'd fire Counzo before the NIT birth. That way they may make it to the second round anyway.. I just would turn that bid down and blow this crap up, start all over..

Bout what I expected.
Actually a decent game against a future #1 seed.
A few Missed opportunities, but FL is for real.

Stokes did not dominate Young at all. That was a good even battle all game and both players had their moments.

Overall, this team just isn't very good. It just isn't. I see no reason for Martin to stay another year.

On #5, it looked like they had a nice play set up for Stokes cutting down the lane. Maymon just couldn't get it over the trap. Just what it looked like from my seat. Tough loss.

Florida hedged so hard on screens, especially in the last 10 minutes, and it looked like Tennessee just didn't have an answer for it.

The lack of ball movement has been something I've been on about all year, but it really gets annoying to see the team basically become a black hole offensively. The ball just stops; there's no real rhyme, reason, or flow with our offense.

tennessee doesn't have a true floor general and that hurts at crunch time.

but, my god, maymon is lucky tennessee is not coached by colonel jessup or there'd be a code red happening real quick.

zo had to yank him. he had to. if it meant putting a steven pearl level player in the game, you still yank him

@wesrucker247: Cuonzo: I never thought about taking Maymon out of the game. He played harder than anyone on defense, made plays there.

That's just scary.

It is true though. He made lots of play on defense. I just don't think anyone thought he would make so many wild mistake on offense over and over. You figured it was just bad luck up to a certain point.

Thought we played pretty well, turnovers killed us. Against a team that good you have to play near flawless, and we didn't.

The good news is play with that effort the next 6 games and we won't lose. The bad news is that this team hasn't shown the ability to play consistently at that level.

FYI Losing to Florida won't keep us out of the tournament.

true, but this where this board has brought me around.

the problem is, it shouldn't be in doubt and it is. and no one has any confidence tennessee won't find a way to lose some more before the year is over.

based on talent, there are 4 teams in the sec that should be tourney locks and tennessee is one of them.

it shouldn't take rabbit's feet and a box of lucky charms to will this team into the field of 68

#9 Barton handled the point better than anyone, he should have started there in the second half.

Who is the 4th team?

It's sickening to think about, but if we had the Maymon of 2 yrs. ago and Trae Golden, we would be a good team. I know, a lot of ifs and buts.
