For this thread i would like everyone to drop there party alliances and not be over analytical. Go back in time when things were simple. Therefore i am going to ask the question like you all are little kids and use terms little kids would use because sometimes keeping it simple helps. see if you can answer this question.

Problem-Our country is Broke and it needs to be fixed.

what needs to be fixed?

we have too many people that don't have jobs and people are suffering.

who has the ability to make decisions to fix the country? politicians

who elect those politicians? the people

Pretty simple so far right... here is where it gets harder

Their are two main groups of politicians and they have different views on how to fix the problem

The people are split on what groups of politicians and ideas they support. Half likes group #1 and half likes group #2

Kinda of mess but not that big of a deal right?

well... See Group #1 has the primary leader of the country and he believes he has a way to fix the country.

But... he needs group #2 to approve his ideas or the country stays broken.

well... Group #2 doesn't like the leaders ideas so they vote against everything because they think his ideas will only make the country worse.

So lets see what their options are

option #1-Group #2 Agrees to the leaders ideas

positives- the country is no longer just sitting there broken and things are being done to try to fix it.

Negatives- If the leader is wrong, Now the country is broken even more making things worse.

option #2- Group #2 says No to the ideas

positives- if the ideas are in fact bad. the country will not get broken even more making it easier to fix later.

negatives- we aren't doing anything to fix the country so it just stays broke and the people just keep suffering.

Oh yea and one last thing. 3 yrs from now the people will choose a new leader

why is that so important?

Lets say Group #2 chose to agree to the leaders ideas and the country is fixed.

Positives- The country is fixed and its people aren't suffering anymore.

Negatives- Since the leader of Group #1 was right the people are more likely to vote for Group#1 again and politicians in Group#2 will not get re-elected, their group will not have the primary leader once again, and there ideas will not be heard for another 4 yrs.

OR

Group #2 can choose not to agree with the leader, the country will not get fixed, and Group #2 will most likely have a politician that is the leader of the country 3 yrs from now.

AND THE WHOLE PROCESS OF DISAGREEMENTS AND NOT GETTING ANYTHING DONE BECAUSE OF PERSONAL AGENDAS AND ZERO COOPERATION WILL START ALL OVER AGAIN.THIS TIME WITH GROUP #1 NOT SUPPORTING GROUP #2's leader.

SO... does anyone have an answer?

For the record this is not an attempt to point fingers, or belittle anyone's intelligence. I just tried to look at the situation that we the American people have in a simpler way. I'm reminded of the movie sling blade when the lawnmower was broke and all these fully competent men couldn't figure out how to fix it, Then a mentally challenged man looked at it and within in seconds solved the problem stating

" It aint got no gas".

MY SOLUTION- do you guys remember the beginning of the problem.

"who has the ability to make decisions to fix the country? politicians

who elect those politicians? the people"

We Ultimately have all the power. I think we have forgotten that. I propose its time to demand more out of our politicians(democrats and republicans) and start taking control of our country again. We may not agree on how it needs to be fixed but i think we can all agree its broke.

Government isn't the answer.

Keynes isn't the answer.

Social and economic justice aren't the answers either.

The solution lies with:

free market capitalism. I can accept reasonable government involvement, particularly in regards to interstate commerce.

personal responsibility and accountability. It needs no explanation, but people have to be taken off the government teet. They must also bear the consequences of their actions.

Article I, Section 8. It's real simple, the federal government needs to be pushed back inside the boundaries as defined by the Founding Fathers.

This simplistic view assumes that the stupidity #1 wants is reversible, which makes it so far fetched as to be worthless.
