Colts-Giants, 1958. To be rebroadcast on ESPN Saturday night at 9:00. Anyone else going to watch it? If so I'll retitle this to the official game thread.

Johnny U was my football idol as a kid in the 60s. I have never seen the game and am planning my day around it.

Offensive coordinator for the Giants that game - Vince Lombardi
Defensive coordinator for the Giants that game - Tom Landry

Now there is a staff.

Chris Berman said the original game broadcast is long gone and the footage shown is from dug up film clips. Looks like this will be 2 hours of remembrances with a few clips thrown in. Oh well.

I have watched the whole thing so far. It is very entertaining IMO. The reconstruction of the first down call was great. They have done a very good job with this. I am pleasantly surprised.

It has been very entertaining and revealing. Some little things I picked up on:

- Some of the Colts jumped over the end zone flag when they ran out as a team at the start.
- The cheerleaders in reindeer outfits was hilarious - even the cheerleaders interviewed said "they filled them out well"
- The COLTS marching band is a very proud group even to this day
- Sam Huff was all over the field making plays on defense
- The players then very much respected and feared their leaders (T.O. would have been beaten to a pulp by his teammates back then)
- They worked other jobs to pay the bills
- The original broadcaster (Bob Wolff) sounds rehearesed in his studio discussions with Tirico
- Unitas protected from an interception on every pass - he put it where only his player had a chance to catch it

I wish they were still in Baltimore. Would be nice if Indianapolis would give the name back and the Ravens name could just be retired as necessary, but temporary.

That was fan freaking tastic. Well done. If you didn't watch, catch it on a rerun. That was a great show. Glad I watched.

It was really good, though I was a bit disappointed in that it wasn't the whole thing. The way they hyped it, it looked like they were going to broadcast it like it was live and in its entirety. They even had the game in the ESPN Sportsticker as "'58 Colts vs. '58 Giants" and an even cooler little gem said "Giants beat the Colts in Week (forgot which one) on a Summerall FG". So I was a big let down that it wasn't just a full rebroadcast.

Yeah - was thinking and hoping the same thing.
