I'm not getting the reasons that schools are deciding to fire or retain coaches in the middle of the season.

1. You get a head start on your coaching search.
2. As Damon Evans learned the hard way last year, not going ahead and pulling the plug leaves the door open for some fluke success that makes it impossible to get rid of a coach you know isn't the guy for the job.
3. You're trying to salvage something out of the season and show your fanbase that you are trying.
