The Happy Gilmore Golf Swing Works?

I was screwing around at the range at Putt Putt in Farragut and I figured out how to do it pretty consistently straight lol. Its actually possible to get a fairly decent drive out of it.

After I watched the movie for the first time, me and a friend probably spent an hour or two at the driving range trying to figure it out. I'd say that a third of the time we actually hit the ball decent and the rest was either whiffing or shanking.

I tried this about 2 years ago with some guys big bertha on a lark and a bet involving beer. The ball went 360 yards and the shaft splintered and atomized. Most expensive beer he ever bought.

I also beleive it's just a matter of time before someone tries it on tour.Any opinions as to whom it may be?

I'm sure it's right around the corner

You can't tell me with all the ego's on tour or with the up and comer's that you don't even entertain the ideal that this is a possibility.

They used to say the same about the pass in football.

I have seen a guy lift his left foot off the ground and step like he was hitting a baseball. At first I thought it was a joke, but he really tried to hit every tee shot that way.

Speaking of weird hold swings, last summer at the Knoxville open there was a guy that switched his hands around on his swing. I think he was right handed. Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

anybody who tries this during an actual tournament should have their tour card revoked immediately after the ball leaves the club face.

I bet its the same guy that will be moving the head of his driver during the round. They can kill 2 birds with 1 stone just for you.

Btw, Happy Gilmore might be the dumbest movie ever

yeah, because i was just certain a professional would attempt to adjust the head of his driver during a tournament round.

and i'm pretty sure Adam Sandler didn't set out to make a golf movie whose purpose was to stimulate you intellectually. in fact, i'm pretty sure the same could be said for most of his movies.

i take it you've never seen The Waterboy.

I've never been a huge fan of his movies. A few I have liked but that is seriously like 3.

Being a serious golfer, I critique way too many things in golf movies. Tin Cup was so good I could overlook the insanity. This one was just too dumb and untrue to enjoy.
It is just my opinion. Never said it had to be dumb to you.

anybody who watches a golf MOVIE and critiques golf swings needs to get over themselves.

newsflash: it's not real life.

i didn't like the Legend of Bagger Vance because, really, who's hitting golf balls on the range only to have a black guy step out of the woods, change his life, and then disappear into the sunset?

totally not realistic.

Caddyshack is terrible because who really carries all those gadgets on his golf bag like Rodney Dangerfield did? a keg tap in his bag? get out.

I'm sorry that you have to have my approval to like a movie. I said it was my opinion. Nobody says that you can't like it
