Huggs signed 7'3" Jason Bennett today. Next year OJ Mayo, Bill Walker, Michael Beasley, and Herb Pope. The rest of the Big 12 is in for some rough trips to Manhattan, KS.

has he already got commitments from mayo, walker, beasly, and pope?
No commitments, but I'll be shocked if he doesn't go at least 3 for 4 with that group. He hired Delonte Hill, who was the reason Beasley had initially committed to Charlotte. Pope's summer coach, J.O. Straight, and Huggs are tight. Straight sent Danny Fortson to play at UC. Also, Huggs spent almost his entire period of exile recruiting Mayo and Walker. They have both expressed a desire to play for Huggs.

i saw beasly play at oak hill this past year and hes an all around great player. he had close to 30 points and he didnt even play a full 3 quarters.

They should be pretty good, for at least 1 year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayo, Beasley, and Walker all leave after 1. I really don't see Bennett. He isn't that good. Don't know much about Pope.

I saw where Devan Downey is going to transfer from Cincinnati. Did he have any ties to Huggins? Think he'll end up at KSU?

Might be hard to keep top players happy living in the little apple for many years. Might be hard to keep Huggins happy living there long.

Huggs recruited him to UC. My guess is that he goes to a school close to home, Clemson or South Carolina.

Hope he goes to Clemson. He talked serious trash about South Carolina, saying that he never considered the school because they weren't good enough for him. The Gamecocks promptly dispatched the Bearcats in Cincinnati as Tre Kelly took him to school en route to, yes.........

You are seriously underestimating Bennett.

I dunno, from all I've heard about him, he is extremely limited on offense and has above average defense. Chism handled him earlier this year and a certain poster on this board has played against him and doesn't seem to be too impressed with him.

We will see, but I'd expect a player that is 7'3" to be able to dunk and block the occasional shot.

He'll block a lot more than the occasional shot. Huggs thinks he is the best defensive big man in the country. That's enough to sell me.

Ok time to jump in this conversation. I have played Bennet and have seen him play many many times since while living in florida we were in the same conference. Jason bennet is nothing but a stick. The only reason his blocks are so high is cause 3/4ths of his conference doesnt have anyone over 6'6. granted, ACD does play alot of big time teams out of state, but tell me one big time player he actually has played good defense aginst?? the ONLY reason jason bennet is a 5* player is for potentinal. i think ever 7 footer out of highschool is either a 4 or 5.

Then I'll proceed on not caring about the Big XII as usual.

not this yr anyway..KU will be the team to beat..but I'm sure KSU will make some noise in a yr or two.

Self is the new Billy D as far as first weekend choke jobs for big programs. One more first rd choke and the noise will be very loud..especially with a top 5 team he should have next yr.

Doesn't matter where they're ranked... They're the freakin' Jayhawks

They need to make Sweet 16 in '07 at least if he wants to stay off the hotseat

The last two years have been bad. However, Self has a very good tournament history. He took TULSA to the Elite Eight. I think they'll be very, very good next year.

Texas and Kansas should be good next year. I'd look out for OSU as well.
With the JC big men they're bringing in, Texas Tech will be much improved.
