On a business trip to Memphis in 1985 I was staying at a Ramada Inn can’t remember the street/road but it was close to what was called The Vapors Club. Was at the bar and had conversation with a guy that told me he had flown in for a close of friend his 50th birthday party. When he got up to finally leave he asked me if I liked Jerry Lee Lewis music, and told him I was very big fan of his.
He said “well that is the close friend that I mentioned and your welcome to come with me as my guest at The Vapors.
I went and it was great time, probably 50 people there all waiting on Jerry to show up. Never forget when he walked in, had on a white full length fur coat, and with a red hair woman that was quite taller than him. He played piano and sang for the party. What was interesting he played and sang songs I had never heard him play. I actually stood probably 10 feet from him while he performed.
He was very personable and friendly to everyone, thanking every single person for coming to his party. It was one of those lucky moments that I will never forget.
