...Kelley Washington went for 256 yards against them.

So, who wants to see Meachem break that record on Saturday?

That would be SAWEEEEET.

LSU's secondary (Well, the defense in whole) is tough.

It will be a fight.

That was an amazing performance on a very emotional night for all fans in that stadium in 2001.:hmm:

That's the only LSU game I've ever attended. It was great. Too bad we gave the second one away with fumbles, penalties, and questionable pass int. calls. But it was amazing how many people left at halftime. It was the first game after Sept. 11, o1., therefore it was a little chilly, but not cold.

The best game I have ever seen was the 1959 LSU game in Knoxville. I was selling hot dogs at the stadium and got fired that day for sitting down and watching the game. It was the period of the Chinese Bandits and the LSU defense was awesome. Opponents had only scored three field goals on them when they arrived at Neyland in November.
Tennessee won 14 - 13 by stopping a two point conversion. Damn, what a game.

I envy you a lot. I would have loved to have seen the most famous tackle in Tennessee history with my own eyes.

I was at the 2001 game, the first one after 9/11. I remember one of my friends I worked with saying he wasnt going to go because he thought a stadium was next to be attacked. I'll never forget the band making the united states on the field and all of us chanting "usa! usa!". The game was close and the sting of the 2000 loss was on our minds. Then I went to the fort for a party with a live band. Awesome night all in all.

As I said, I was there too and that just gave you goosebumps being there for the excitement of the game and the patriotism beaming from everyone in the stadium, no matter who your football team was.:salute:

That season was also awesome because we played Florida as our last regular season game. It was a huge game for both teams and went down to the wire. It was one of the best UT-Florida games ever played. Honestly, I think it would be awesome if that was the regular season finale every year. It would be a huge matchup for the SEC, especially now that both teams are rising back to the top of the conference. Really, I think it would be the SEC's version of Ohio State-Michigan. I doubt it will ever be moved permanently, though.

That game was unbelivable. It was #4 v #2 and we were double-digit underdogs. I dont think we win that game if we play it when it was scheduled. But yeah, I remember Spurrier and Fulmer both saying they wished that game was scheduled at the end of the season every year. It would be a huge last-second boost to whoever won.

Too bad the winner would then have to limp into the SEC championship game (probably). That's the only drawback I can see. I would still be all for it.

Wayne Grubb, former head coach at the University of North Alabama, used to have a picture of this famous "stop" on the wall in his office. He, Bill Majors, and someone else, that I can't remember, combined to stop Billy Cannon cold on probably the most famous tackle in UT history. Wish I had a copy of that print of that picture.

I thought the most famous tackle was made by Bill Duff, but that is a different discussion:)

I was at a wedding in Indiana for the 2001 game, but I kept sneaking out to my truck for updates during the reception (maybe during the ceremony.) I'll never forgive the guy for getting married during football season.

Only three touchdowns were scored all season against the 1959 LSU Tigers. Tennessee had two of them.

Thanks VHB, Charley Severence was that third guy that was in on the play 48 years ago. I am sure the traditionist Phillip Fulmer will allude to that play in his pregame talk to the Vols before the take the field against the LSU Bengal Tigers. I would.

I was at that game as well (also at the 2003 win, I need to go to the Swamp more often  ) and the elation during and after the game was one of the best highs I got from a college football game. There were "Pasadena Bound" signs all over the place with everyone handing out roses. After the game (as we sang Rocky Top in an all UT Orange Swamp), there were roses smashed ALL OVER the ground. :eek:lol: It was great.......and then I got on College Gameday after the game. Unbelievable day.:matrix:

Ooooooooh please don't remind me. I will never forget watching the end of the game on CBS seeing those annoying pompoms shake to the rhythm of Rocky Top over and OVER again while Casey lead the band in an empty Swamp. Most aggravating scene I have ever witnessed. Tennessee eclipsed FSU as my most hated rival on that day. :BANGHEAD2::BANGHEAD2::BANGHEAD2:

You mean these people and their pompoms (this is actually 2003)?
