Good read. But there's a disconnect between Manziel's contemporary parade of indiscretions and the family's not-so-squeaky-clean lineage.

That was great writing.

I didn't know why I was immediately p.o.'d by someone calling himself "Johnny Football", but now I think I see why.

Crass, but I guess that's just the football bidness these days.

That's cool.

There's no doubt that family values are generally passed along, whether by express verbal teaching or by example. There is also no doubt that the product of a family's values can rise above said values through education, religious awakening, etc...

The point is that a family tradition of dishonest gain may point to the family values that would produce a heisman trophy winner that would use his notoriety for dishonest gain.

How much you think of that point makes little difference to its veracity.
