Many people have seemed to stuck by Dooley up until the last few games, which I somewhat understand.. But ask yourself... Did you EVER truly think a Dooley-led Vols program would ascend to the top of SEC football?... The main problem that I think should definitely be considered by fans and by Admin is this...

Our expectations were to be COMPETING for a spot in the SECCG this year... Not necessarily get there, but at least be in the hunt for it like Georgia, Florida, USCe has been... Those were reasonable goals for this year... Not only has Dooley completely failed at this in his 3rd year, but be have regressed and this team looks worse in its 3rd year..

So if he cannot meet expectations to just be competitive, how are we ever supposed to expect him to reach the level that we ultimately expect of WINNING the SEC championship in the near future?

You look at the progression, and not only are we historically bad.. But I have been given absolutely ZERO indication that this regime has the remote capibility of taking us to the top NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME THEY ARE GIVEN..

So if there are any more Dool-aid drinkers out there... You may think he may need one more year to prove, but before you do, think about this... No matter how many years he is given, Derek Dooley will never be the kinda coach that will consistently compete for championships. And that is what is expected at UT. That, above all else is enough reason to cut him lose now..

I don't know that we expected immediate dominance but come on...I'm pretty sure we expected to actually win a game in the sec by this point in the season. True, a coach needs time to build a program. But Dooley has done nothing to indicate he's going down a successful pathway to re-build the vols.

I stood by him until the MSU loss. If you you were anit-Dooley before Florida loss, then you were just being negative, if you were pro Dooley after the Alabama game, you were just insane.

I hung in there until the MSU loss as well. Once he lost that game I knew it was time for him to go.

I'm just saying in short... The absolute CEILING for what a Vols coach is able to achieve should be SEC Championship/National Title... Im talking about what the absolute best they possibly could do here given time...

Dooley's coaching ceiling would be us competing for an Devisional title.. That's the best I would give him. And that's not enough for me, and shouldn't be enough for any of yal.

Well I for one didn't like the hire from the beginning. If you have to google the guys name to find out who he is....he doesn't belong in the SEC. I was ready to get rid of him after Kentucky last year.

Not true. It doesn't make you any more negative about the program if you came to the correct conclusion before the majority of the fanbase.

Hell, there are posters who called the past three years to a T, the day after Dooley was hired.

I defended him till yesterday and will say that cyclopskiller (eventhough he posts Like an Ass) was absolutely right. You cannot sit there with a top qb and 2 first rd receivers and not take a shot for a win.

Granted the defense looked a little better, but dang we need new blood on the staff. Kudos to the man for all he'd done, but his time is over

What a foolish and arrogant thing to say. Just because YOU were unable to see the incompetence of Dooley until this year you think that no one else could and therefore THEY must have been NegaVols.

The truth is ... you're slow. You and many other polyanna Vols supporters were so caught up in drinking the Doolaide you were incapable of rational analysis. Some folks as early as Dooley's first year were able to see that he was in way over his head. I remember thinking that after his first six games when our team couldn't even get 11 players on the field on a regular basis and because we never could make any meaningful half-time adjustments.

Now that Dooley's incompetence is obvious to even a blind person, you decide to jump on board and condemn the early riders as NegaVols. Geesh !!! :banghead2:

Though I bleed orange, I never wanted Dooley in the first place. He had no resume to speak of: no OC or DC experience, and no HC experience except for LA-Tech which is WAC! Even though I thought Hamilton was an idiot for hiring him, I supported Dooley till the KY game last season. I never replenished the Dool-aid bucket after that loss.

I thought he could be the guy, I really did. My thought was he was growing on the job and should be given time to do so. But man these last few weeks, I'm done. I have supported the man from the start. I think he is a great guy and wish him well, but this is where he lost me. I think any good coach would of won a few more games!! The OP hit it home, just guess I was in denial and wanted better for him and us. I will say this, we better hit home run with this hire or it's going to be ugly, ugly ugly!!! Yes it's ugly now, but we have hope for the new guy. Take that away and we are looking at each other with blank stares!!!

I never saw growth in year one, two, or three. Any appearance of "growth" would have made me feel better. His self proclaimed growth after last week's game with Troy made me sick to my stomach.
