The majority of this is on the Oline and it's penalties

There are a lot of people on the board that just want to point the finger. I'm here to offer my perspective as to why you shouldn't point it directly at the Dline for this game.

Looking back at our schedule, in 3 of the WINS we had this season our defense allowed an average of 21 points, nothing we couldn't answer to and eventually win. (WKU 20, USA 24, USCe 21)
Missouri scored 31 which is only a difference of 10 points. Chalk those extra 10 points up to a combination of missed tackles on the defense and an inability to stop a mobile QB. Given the talent on our team, the state of the program, and the fact that we were playing a top 10 team that's pretty much on par. The Oline just didn't answer.

I think maybe a good portion of why our Oline didn't answer was because we just started a new QB and they've only had a ONE week of practice to adjust to him. Add dropped balls, false starts/other penalties, missed tackles that resulted in sacks, and possibly a psychological adversion to road games and then you've got the result of the TN vs Missouri game.

I'm open to feedback and other thoughts.

O-line played poorly, without a doubt, but our defense looked horrendous too. It does look more like a talent, depth, and speed issue to me, though.

If you look at who's destroyed us this year, it's always been the teams that have outside speed and mobile QBs. We can't defend against it for whatever reason, and Gary Pinkel definitely realized this when gameplanning for us. We hung with Georgia, because their attack is a bit more traditional (and down the middle), and South Carolina also lacked the speed to kill us.

We can't compete for SEC until we have more speed on D.

Missouri had a lot of team speed on both side of the ball. I hate that our corners have to give 10 yd cushions most plays. The WR screens kill us every game because of the cushion that they have to give up to make up for lack of speed.

On the other hand, if we run it, it goes for maybe positive yards. Tonight is the first time that I can remember it being effective. North looked good tonight.

The O-line is slow. Sorry, but it had to be said. Josh was running the hurry-up to perfection tonight and he was going wild back in the gun begging for the snap. Stone somehow couldn't seem to get it off for several more seconds until after he'd ask for it, and this happened repeatedly.

One of the TD's scored by Mizzou was PATHETIC. The safety, LB, and corner sat down on 2 receivers while one WR slipped by to the end zone and caught a TD pass with no defender in the same zip code. That is high school bush league crap I am so sick of seeing that kinda s***

Our defense.

Can't defend the edge and they can't defend runs up the middle. When they put 7 or 8 in the box, WR's and TE's burn our coverage. Missed tackles, no closing speed and we have big trouble with mobile QB's. This has been a problem for years, not just #117.

Perfect recipe for Auburn to burn us.

You win or lose games in the SEC in the trenches and our trenches on both sides of the ball are below average at best. I was worried going into this season with all the talk about our O line being the best in the SEC. All talk. These guys have basically underperformed for 4 years now. Next year will be better.

Every facet of our team, except kicking, played so poorly I tweeted mean things to a lot of people last night. Woke up this morning feeling sorry and deleted them. They played really really bad.

If ferguson isn't better than dobbs I'm really scared. Dobbs looks like a reincarnate of a freshman Woorley.

Yeah you didn't watch the game at all the guy threw for 240 yards, 26 completions, and had the most rushing yards on the team with 45 yards. Yeah he had some turnovers but he is a true freshman making his first start against the #9 team in the nation on the road. You are just looking for something to complain about man. The guy set records last night and you are still complaining.

Smith, McC, Walls, Miller, O'Brien, etc.
4 star talent most teams would have been thrilled to land. Got steam rolled two weeks in a row.

Let's not even mention the O-line. You are telling me that about 10 or 11 lineman are complete busts??

Horrible showing. Butch better be wearing a black stripe on the TV show today.

The inexperience really showed it self with Dobbs and the WR's. Our O-line just wasn't built for this offense. Our D needs to be demolished and rebuilt because my gosh they have led blocks for feet. Outside of Cam Sutton and Vereen they look lethargic. Our LB can't cover, our DE's don't know how to keep contain and Hood can't fight off blocks. I just don't understand why and how we recruited guys who were so slow and bad athletes

Must have been drinking heavily last night if you think this.

Josh Smith needs to quit dropping so many balls. If he does this, he is going to be a tremendous asset because he can find the seams in the defense. Until this happens, he is a liability.

yea. i dont think dobbs is in any way like worley. in fact id say polar opposites is more like it.

dobbs needs to learn how to score in the red zone. ill chalk the turnovers to inexperience. honestly, i think tucking it and running closer to redzone and swing pass was great play call.

We didn't establish the running game and Oline commited about 10 penalties. That is enough to lose any game. Throw in a rookie qb, lackluster Defensive performance, Officials running pics against our defenders on the goal line (first score), and a blow out is in order. Mauk wasn't even that good in passing, but he ran like Connor Shaw.

Palardy had the best night and he still a bad punt, mixed in with some great ones.

WE HAVE TO RUN THE BALL TO WIN!

Pass defense we have. Opening up holes for our running backs, non existent !!!!! A very much overrated o line , in my opinion !!!! I do have faith in Butch Jones and I feel Dobbs is going to be an excellent qb !!

Most overrated offensive line in America. If I have to hear "Tennessee's vaunted offensive line" one more time I'm going to vomit

Heard the announcer say that at the beginning of the game last night. I was thinking, "who the hell told him that?"
