Like literally,
Trinity died in Matrix: Revolutions...
Is Hollywood just out of ideas at this point?

What gave it away?
Probably the 56 remakes over the past 6 months that hit theaters.

This is why Nolan is one of the only movie makers left that I will watch all of his movies, because they're actually original ideas.

Didn't even remember that, that's how much I cared about the sequels.

Hollywood is far from out of ideas. It's the economics of the industry at play. The original ideas that hollywood produces get made into series. Big budget movies are very risky and it's a much safer bet to go with a familiar concept, like comic characters, reboots, remakes, best-selling books, etc. If you have a really good idea for a drama, they're making it into a series now.

Feels like this is a combo cash in on the on-going remake craze combined with the current "Keanu Reeves is red hot" phase.

I have about as much interest in another Matrix movie as I do the Avatar sequels.

Sequels were terrible but the first one was so fantastic. Maybe they can recapture that magic?
