I wonder if their players realized as soon as practices started with their new coach that they sucked again? I mean was it an immediate realization or gradual? Or did they have to wait for their first game?
Well, judging by how "turn't" the players were when they saw their new uniforms, I'm guessing the slow realization started at halftime of the Temple game.
I assume Mason's post game speech was basically, "hey, uh, this is an out of conference game, ya know? We're still, we can still win the SEC. It's a, uh, a process, ya know?"
Then, after the Ole Miss beat down, Mason will try to convince them they can win the division. Then after their first SEC East beatdown, he'll try to convince them that they can still get bowl eligible. Then, by the end of the season, all they will have left to play for is beating UT.
Meanwhile, they'll continue to struggle to recruit quality, SEC-caliber players. Given Mason's panicked decision to switch QBs in the 2nd quarter, I suspect he'll make some changes to his coaching staff after this season.
Basically, Vanderbilt is the Titanic and Mason is the band leader who will go down with the ship.
