I know there are several folks on here that want Pearl gone and I'm not here to defend him or his actions but here are my two cents about the whole thing.
Pearl lied about a secondary violation, which is bad, really bad, but that doesn't speak to his ability to coach or what he's done for the program. That being said he should lose his job, he knew the rules well enough to lie about the violation. Which brings me to my next point, if CBP loses his job over this there is no justifiable reason for Jim Tressel to continue to keep his job.
Jim Tressel knew about a major violation 8 months in advance and said nothing to anyone and when the story broke he lied about knowing anything about it. The email correspondence tells us at least that much. The discrepancy between how these two cases are being handled by the NCAA is simply another reason why the body itself can't be taken seriously and should either be dissolved or completely overhauled. Granted I may be biased but I firmly believe if a program does wrong they should be punished and that the punishment be even-handed for similar offenses.
