I know there are several folks on here that want Pearl gone and I'm not here to defend him or his actions but here are my two cents about the whole thing.

Pearl lied about a secondary violation, which is bad, really bad, but that doesn't speak to his ability to coach or what he's done for the program. That being said he should lose his job, he knew the rules well enough to lie about the violation. Which brings me to my next point, if CBP loses his job over this there is no justifiable reason for Jim Tressel to continue to keep his job.

Jim Tressel knew about a major violation 8 months in advance and said nothing to anyone and when the story broke he lied about knowing anything about it. The email correspondence tells us at least that much. The discrepancy between how these two cases are being handled by the NCAA is simply another reason why the body itself can't be taken seriously and should either be dissolved or completely overhauled. Granted I may be biased but I firmly believe if a program does wrong they should be punished and that the punishment be even-handed for similar offenses.

Pretty sure, I could be wrong, that Tressel never lied during a AA interview. Bruce lied during the investigation and lied directly to the AA. I think there is a difference between the two situations.

I'll give you that but he did lie to the University which is the same thing CBP did. I also don't know if and when Tressel was questioned by the NCAA regarding the player's violation.

This isn't even about UT vs OSU, this is more of a commentary on how the NCAA is either completely inept or completely corrupt.

the 'aa hasn't even really begun it's investigation on Coach Sweater Vest. Just give it time. The new no sh** allowed NCAA won't let Tressel rest so easy either, I'd almost guarantee it.

I really hope you're right because right now I'm very jaded with the NCAA.

For a Florida fan, this figures.

They both deserve to be unemployed.

He lied directly to the 'AA when he signed that he was unaware of any violations. He knew of the violations and still signed off that he wasn't aware of any violations on an official 'AA document. That's a pretty direct lie.

Pearl is at the end of his investigation. Tressel is at the beginning. How are you comparing the two at this point in time.

The fact Tressel’s punishment has been upped from 2 games to 5 shows they are beginning to feel the heat.
