The new patch on the jerseys

I heard this morning what it is for. The torch (as in torchbearer) is a symbol that the player made the honor roll. So now we can recognize academics on the field.

mississippi st. did something similar a few years ago...they had a patch on the jersey that represented each player's major i think...

I think it is the new fad. I saw a few teams doing it this week including fsu with a special sticker on the helmet.

UGA has white bones for athletic achievements and black bones for academic achievements on their helmets....you don't see very many black bones....
