has got to include a rookie salary cap. The first round guys that have signed over the last couple of days have been making out like big dogs.

EB signs a 6yr 60 million dollar contract with 34 million guaranteed. That makes him the highest paid safety in league history. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for him that he has signed and will be in camp, but that kind of money is ridiculas for a rookie. Even for one that is pretty much a sure thing.

Now Sam Bradford signs his contract for 6yr 78 million with 50 million guaranteed. That contract is the most guaranteed money ever offered to a player in the NFL. How does a rookie QB come in and get more guaranteed money than Peyton or Brady?

When it comes to the NFL, I don't.

These guys are definitely getting their money to stow away for the lockout.

The NFL may be the most powerful league in sports, but there are some serious issues Roger Goodell needs to take care of.

Next CBA:

- Address rookie salaries
- Provide better medical provisions for retired NFL players

Those two off the top of my head. Anything else?

I think these rookies need to get all they can. It may be the only contract they ever get.

Revenue sharing is going to be the biggest issue.

I agree to a certain point, but not when it makes some rookies the highest paid players in the NFL. A lot of that money would be much better served going to veterans that have already proven themselves and taken the beating. Those veterans that have been in the league for a lot of years and have put their bodies through hell could use that money much more than the rookies (especially those that don't last more than a couple of years).

I think the top QB contracts are now...
Eli
Peyton
Bradford
Stafford

yep; i believe that's what's currently causing all the hold up / failed talks

Yeah I don't think there is going to be an eleventh hour cure this time around.

I think Jerry Jones would like nothing more than to have a deal like Texas has in the Big 12.

yeah, the word seems to be to be ready for anywhere fom a 4-6 game lockout to worst case a full season.

and certainly, yeah, goodell's not one who would keep them there longer and make them reach an agreement

I dunno. I think a lockout season could really put the popularity of the NFL to the test, at least in the short term. Most stadiums will still sell out, but will TV ratings take a bit of a dive?

It seems like the recent ratings of the League have been on the part of the casual fan, and say what you want, things like lockouts WILL drive viewers away. How many?

I read somewhere the NFL either has in place, was finishing up, or were pushing for (I think it's one of the first 2) a deal or change to the current deal that would still guarantee the league receive $5 billion in 2011, even if a season isn't played due to lockout. (I need to check that again though, it was several months back)

The common belief among most of the analysts (including ESPN's analysts and their daily division blog managers) - i think i might have already replied once before to you with this - is that the league (owners and commish I guess) appear to feel that the league's popularity will be fine with a year of football not being played, and that once the NFL starts back up again, they feel the fans will come rushing back

At the very least his last big one, but if the whole CBA doesn't work out who knows what will happen.

I'm gonna go with last because I think whatever they come up with is going to be a six year deal. My guess is going to be around 100 to 105 mil with 55 mil guaranteed.

I think the Sam Bradford deal forced their hands on the guaranteed money.
