Man, seriously I've had about enough of people bitching and moaning about how the Green Bay vs. Dallas game is not avaliable nation wide.

This is what the NFL Network wants to counter act the cable stations not giving up the ghost on the contract. It's plain and simple great business moves by NFL. They are going to win every battle to eventually win the war.

Don't look now but guess what network New England's 16th game is on? NFL Network. You think people are bitching now, wait till then, given that they go into that game 15-0.

The people that are whining, I don't think understand that they are doing the NFL Network a favor in that the more free press (message boards, sports talk, bar talks) they can get about their situation and their network the better.

This may seem like a rant but I really can't stand Joe Fan saying, "Hey dammit I demand this game be on absolutley free TV or atleast a channel that's on every cable package in America (ESPN)."

Just a side note, I'm sure bars and pubs around America are greatful for the NFL Network because Thursday night I'm just going to bet that beer and wing sales will be up in every town in America.

They will have to someday. Cable, at least the one in my town, is down right awful. It's not digital cable I just have your regular cable and I pay 60 bucks a month and have 74 channels. I'd say a good 60% of those consist of C-Span, Shopping Networks, Latino Networks, Local Information Channels, TV Guide Channel, 2 Weather channels, Lifetime, you see what I'm getting at......

i was about to come in here and preach about the joy that DirecTV has brought me, but jake already told everybody how awesome it was.

i also have not noticed a bit of drop off from DSL either.

I will be drinking at Cool Beans while watching the game. It is a very smart move by the NFL. The cable companies need to pony up.

I'll be hammered at the bar, Thursday. My dad has Direct TV so I'll be back home for X-mas to catch that game on the comfort of my parents leather couch.

By the way Hate, hate, hate.

did this match up fall into their laps or was it part of the flex scheduling the NFL uses?

i figured not because both teams played last Thursday also. the NFL Network had a huge bone fall into their lap one way or another. nobody figured both teams would be 10-1.

i wonder how many people switched to DirecTV the past few weeks.

If the cable companies pony up, the prices of the service will go up. The NFL network is wanting to charge an outrageous amount of money to have it. That is why they have it in the sports tier package. Cable would not cost so much if the actually channels would not charge. The reason the prices go up every year is because of the channel companies charging more. Here is a good but long article about the NFL network and Sunday Ticket.

ESPN Page 2 - TMQ: Ticket, please!

I'm with you on this one. I pay an outrageous price for my cable tv. And it sucks, I don't have much of a choice since there are no other cable companies. Its that or direct.

i'm pretty pleased with Direct TV. i had time warner cable before. i get more channels, more HD channels, more access to more sports, and relatively speaking, it's cheaper per month.

easy decision.

and the game last night was not part of any flex scheduling.......it was a pre determined match up.

Yes, but you do miss some of the game because they go to the studio for comments a lot and don't always get back in time. I thought overall it was a bad broadcast. Gumble is weak and Collinsworth is a moron. And whoever the fat dude in the studio is just needs to make up his mind and get over himself.

Then there is your solution. Get DirecTV. It kicks the crap out of cable. I have no idea why anyone would choose cable.

Bundled discount, I'd have to see if I'd really be saving any money with also using them for internet and all that other good stuff.

Dishnetwork also has the NFL network. I have Dish and I have been very pleased. I got a bundled discount with AT&T with dish, phone, and DSL.

Maybe the cable companies need to pony up and offer a-la-carte service? :p

I get the NFL Network (in HD) with my basic Verizon Fios and it's less expensive than my previous Cox package.
