Crompton on his very close friend Shuler's campaign victory...
tfpOnline:Nutt On Switch To Casey Dick/Other Notes
[QUOTE]"We just feel like we have to go with the one thats going to help us the most at this particular time, and its Casey," said Nutt, who added experience was a reason for the switch. "But were not afraid to put Mitch in the game."

"Crompton has been throwing a real good ball and reading stuff right," receiver Robert Meachem said, "so we are going to go with Crompton at this point."
As for the actual Coach of the Volunteers, well he says...
UT coach Phillip Fulmer said he would name a starting quarterback today. He hasnt officially anointed Crompton, but all signs this week have pointed that direction.
"Now hes played. Now everybody knows what he can do," Fulmer said. "You can kind of build a plan around his strengths. You know better the limitations that you would have if it were Erik. How much can he improve one week to the next?"
Ainge missed his weekly Wednesday media session for the first time all season. Crompton appeared in his place.
:lol:Crompton said his parents plan to drive 14 hours to catch Saturdays game. Thats a long trip just to watch their son stand on the sideline. And one more: When asked the loudest hostile crowd he has ever faced, Crompton answered, "I guess this week will be."
Most memorable was the lick Crompton lower his shoulder and delivered to an LSU cornerback trying to keep him from a first down. A capacity crowd at Neyland Stadium simply loved it.
"I was very, very pleased with the way he competed," Cutcliffe said. "His poise and management of the ball game was outstanding."
Crompton on his very close friend Shuler's campaign victory...
"Im excited for him. Thats a big deal," Crompton said. "I actually tried to call him last night and he didnt answer and his voice mailbox was too full for me to leave a message. Ive got to call him back."
tfpOnline:Nutt On Switch To Casey Dick/Other Notes
Nutt benched a quarterback who hadnt lost any of his eight starts. Nutt sees how people may question that, much less his sanity.
"Maybe," he said, "but theyre not out there with them every day."
[QUOTE]"We just feel like we have to go with the one thats going to help us the most at this particular time, and its Casey," said Nutt, who added experience was a reason for the switch. "But were not afraid to put Mitch in the game."

Dick started four games last season, but was limited in spring practice by a back injury and has been used sparingly this season.
"You become a stronger person and a better person from sitting over there," Dick said. "Sitting over there, you learn a lot about yourself and you learn a lot about your team."
Montario Hardesty said he had no ill effects this week from a knock to the head suffered last weekend against LSU.
"I kind of got hit head-to-head, I guess, a slight concussion a little bit," Hardesty said. "My head was ringing. ... Id say it probably took about 10-15 minutes before I totally got out of being in the fog and dizzy and everything."
Phillip Fulmer of Coker, "Hell play." But the first shot against the Razorbacks goes to Hardesty, who hasnt rushed more than eight times in a game since Memphis in late September.
Hardesty started earlier this season against Florida and Marshall.
"I dont really think Ive hit a rhythm," Hardesty said. "Hopefully, I can start."
Marvin Mitchell returned to practice Wednesday as a sign the shoulder injury suffered against LSU wont keep him off the field against Arkansas.
"It doesnt surprise me," Fulmer said. "I would be surprised if he didnt go."
Tennessean:McFadden A Test For Volunteers
This week, the Vols get up close and personal with perhaps the best offensive player they'll see, in Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden.
McFadden leads the Southeastern Conference in rushing with 115.3 yards per game and is as adept at running away from defenders as he is running over them.
If that's not enough, his backup, Felix Jones, is even faster and tops the SEC leaders with an 8.1-yard average every time he touches the ball.
John Chavis didn't flinch when asked about the comparison to the Auburn duo of Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown, both of whom went in the top 5 picks of the 2004 draft.
"In terms of all them being great players, yes they're similar," said Chavis, whose Vols are ninth in the SEC in rushing defense (136.4 yards per game). "But they're different style runners.
"I'm not saying those other two (Williams and Brown) didn't have great speed, but these two (McFadden and Jones) are big-time speedsters. I don't know that I've seen two backs in the same backfield with this kind of speed."
They both return kickoffs. They both have caught touchdown passes this season, and McFadden lines up occasionally in the shotgun at quarterback and takes a direct snap.
The Vols' defenders have talked almost reverently this week about McFadden, who had 145 yards rushing in the Razorbacks' 27-10 thumping of Auburn back on Oct. 7.
"We've been joking around here about how he's Adrian Peterson's little brother," said junior linebacker Ryan Karl, referencing the Oklahoma star tailback. "He's a big, physical back, real fast, and he can play."
The Peterson reference comes from McFadden's upright running style, which reminds some of former Titans star Eddie George.
"He has great upper body strength," sophomore linebacker Jerod Mayo said. "You can tell when he's running the ball. Adrian Peterson runs the exact same way, tall like that. Old running backs like Eric Dickerson used to run like that, too. It's not really a disadvantage to him.
"But if we tackle his legs, he can't run the ball."
This one is shaping up to be quite the tilt folks.
