Here are a couple of items in.... The Notes..

Tennessean: More Bowl Extrapolation
The best-case scenario for Tennessee would be for two SEC teams — Florida, Arkansas and LSU are still in the running — to make a BCS bowl.
That would make it more likely for the Vols to end up in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla., and perhaps even give them an outside shot at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Chick-fil-A Bowl officials have confirmed that Georgia may be their primary target if the Bulldogs knock off 16th-ranked Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Even with a win, Tennessee still could fall as far as the Music City Bowl. The Outback, Cotton and Chick-fil-A bowls could choose to pass on the Vols, particularly if only one SEC team makes the BCS.

Accurate Ainge: The best season of junior quarterback Erik Ainge's career could also end up among the best seasons for any quarterback in UT history.
Ainge has completed 68 percent of his passes, second in the SEC only to LSU's JaMarcus Russell.
He was 21-of-26 on Saturday against Vanderbilt.
Barring a bad performance against the Wildcats, Ainge could finish with the highest completion percentage in school history among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts in a season.
Heath Shuler has the highest percentage in modern school history at 64.6 percent in 1993.

tfpOnline: Some small stuff
Kentucky didn’t exactly cruise to its seventh win Saturday, holding on 42-40 at home against lightly regarded Louisiana-Monroe (2-8). The Wildcats allowed 501 yards and trailed 34-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

"I was fearful of a little bit of a mental letdown," Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said, "and I think we had a little bit of a mental letdown."

The Wildcats rank last in the SEC in total defense by a whopping 111 yards allowed per game. Such a statistic is promising for a Tennessee passing offense that regained its early-season form in shelling Vanderbilt on Saturday.

On the ankle of QB10...
"He’s not 100 percent, but he’s going to be much closer," offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe said. "The last thing I told him when I left the locker room was, ‘Get in the training room.’"

Injury stuff...
Wide receiver Lucas Taylor suffered a head injury and missed the second half.

Defensively, linebacker Jerod Mayo was on crutches after hurting his knee Saturday and is questionable for Kentucky. Fulmer wouldn’t offer details of Mayo’s MRI on Sunday, but said after the game that Mayo’s backup Rico McCoy will "have to really step up big."

Middle linebacker Marvin Mitchell intends to play against Kentucky despite a painful shoulder sprain that has limited him the past two weeks.

"It will probably start feeling better when we go to bowl practice and I get those two or three weeks off to let it heal up," Mitchell said. "Basically what it is, it’s like a sprained ankle. You keep running around doing stuff, it keeps getting worse. I keep hitting it, it keeps getting worse."

Lets enjoy a short week everyone...

Go Vols!!!

*Sigh*

We are really losing a GREAT group of seniors.

I'm gonna miss those guys alot.

I still think the Outback Bowl will make an offer to Tennessee, but I'll tell you what, if they slip all the way to the Music City Bowl at 9-3 with losses to the number 9 ,5 and 3 teams in the country, they should throw a hissy fit the likes of which Mike Slive has NEVER seen before.

Give my appreciation to our senior.

I understand this, we didn't knock off any one, we are pretty much dominated by our strong opponents on both sides.

Good stuff.

I remember the Freshman days of Drew Tardy just like they were yesterday. Time flies.

With how highly ranked the teams were that we lost to and with the fact that Ainge and Coker were injured against LSU (who we almost beat anyway) and Arkansas I think the Music City Bowl would be a slap in the face.

After a season that was one gigantic self inflicted wound, I'm not really noticing the shots from outside the family so much. Lets get this win Saturday and see where the chips fall then....

I don't understand this. We dominated the Chik-fil-A bowl's "primary target."

Plus, if the committee wants to fill up the hotels, they won't bring in the hometown team.

I guess this is a product of Truett Cathy's affinity for the Dawgs.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't be that hard to counter with the fact that our highest ranked win was over Cal (#18), who with a bowl loss might finish out of the top 20.

'83-Stanley Asumnu'

I've never even heard of this guy. Has he been hurt these last few years? (Yeah, I know, I'm a bad fan. :p)

all the fans were really pulling for him since he is one of the hardest workers we have. He is an amazing athlete just lacks good football skills. Trooper did say though he would have him in the draft if he had him for four years. He is 6'5 runs a 4.5 and has a 43 inch vert so he's a pure athlete.
