The number of freshmen we start should be a good indicator of how good we really are

If the coaches have developed the players we have, then they shouldn't have to start all of these freshmen. Guys like Erric Berry and O'neal obviously will start, but as far as the others, I'm almost hoping that they don't start. Not because they're bad, but because the older guys are that good.

O'Neal will be a junior...so I think he's an "older guy"

i think Berry, O'Neal, Vinson, Willingham McKenzie and G Jones come in and start right away, because they have to. And if Holbert doesn't get it together than put Cooper in that too. O'Neal and Vinson at WR. Berry, Willingham and McKenzie in secondary and G jones at KR/PR

I just read about Vinson on the rivals article (see the other thread I posted) His JUCO coach says he is a future 1st round pick.

Not really, this may be the best class UT has ever had... Just take that into consideration.

I realize that. But if the players we already have are better than the ones coming in, I will be looking forward to this season.

Because if the players we have coming in aren't as good as the ones we've had 2-3 years, somethin is up with the dev. of our players.

Some Freshmen are impact players, plain and simple. You will see plenty of Freshmen next year due to the Depth and skill level.

Some players are just that good coming out of high school. I know that as a general rule, your upper classmen should handle the majority of starting spots, but sometimes a guy out of high school just has enough next-level talent to push him past an established guy.

That said, I think that Evans has a chance to start in the secondary next year. Plus, he'll have spring practice to make himself the player to beat for the spot.

In the end though, Kirby has it right. I'm just looking forward to another season of Vol Footbal.

I think 3 maybe 4 starting freshmen is about right, but only if their talent and ability make up for their lack of expirience.
