So, from a personal standpoint, my biggest concern from what I've seen on the field is the OL play. I'm seeing a young OL that keeps getting manhandled by the other team. I get that they're young and still adjusting, but we really need them to find their identity fast and start getting mean.

So my point, everyone and their mom will have an opinion, but are there any former OL's out there with an evaluation of what they're seeing from our line play? Get technical, what do they need to do to improve? Can they turn things around in time for SEC play?

I'm not an OL guru. I'm just a fan concerned with what he's seeing. I'm hoping VN might have a few OL gurus that don't speak much but are willing to share their POVs on the situation. No pretenders please.

Brand new line... freshman playing second most important position. I am concerned, but really, will be fine once these guys get more reps.

Our slow developing running plays don't help.

They don't look SEC caliber to me.... I hope I'm wrong, but I think they're going to be the limiting factor of this year's team.

With that said..... The same thing can be said about the D line as well.

so little time for these young men to be able to anticipate which guy is going to cover just before the snap when the defense changes alignments, how they will gang tackle, etc. Our OL will look much better by the end of the season. That means more longer runs for Hurd and Lane. Worley is doing very well given the lack of support.

What? The D line has been solid. Much better than expected.

Our offensive line broke dawn at times and our run game simply is the pits.
We will know more after next week.
I have to keep telling myself we have a young team.

I think we need to look at the stats how many yds on the ground did we have like 170 if its 3 yds and a cloud of dust that's just what it has to be 3 . 4 . 3 is 10 everytime

Yea o line is rough Worley got hit like 100 times this game next week could be bad.... It always seems that we are always short somewhere we have the wrs and no o line a defense no offense or wrs and no qb I can't wait till we have a complete team

Against USU and Arky State.... They aren't very big and there is a depth issue too. It appears to me they will struggle against SEC caliber O lines. Maybe I'm wrong.... Hope I am.... But I don't think so

Well our center is too heavy, L guard can't getanything done. Read option isn't effective with no qb runs, he could've had the corner and dove four 4 yds. RB need better vision. CALLING D BLAIR....9/9 Richmand annonces

and it is legit, is that Worley is playing quite well--and it would nice to capitalize on his good play. Next year he'll be gone and we'll be breaking in another QB. So the line will be better and the QB play could deteriorate. That's why I want to see this line get better--fast!

Of course we will struggle against the better teams in the SEC. We knew that before the seson started. Last year we struggled with South Alabama. Anybody who doesn't see that this D-line is light years ahead of where it was last year isn't paying attention.

Seems to me like we haven't been able to get a good rushing attack established. A lot of times I'm watching and thinking, how did he not get good yardage out of that carry? What could be going on? Is it our backs not hitting the holes? Is it our line not creating the holes? I feel like our run game could be way more solid and explosive than it has looked considering the talent we have in the backfield.

Also, why is Devrin Young not getting more carries? I think he has the speed and agility to be a play-maker at the running back position.

We were better today than against USU. While our numbers might not be better next week, I imagine we will continue to improve over the course of the season.

Look no further than five new starters on the offensive line, IMO.

That was my first thought also. They look pretty decent in pass protection on most plays. We can't count on Worley the whole game though, we need some runs!

It'll only get worse now that we have to start playing real defenses.

Not for a while. The problem with our running game is two fold.

One, we have a very inexperienced offensive line with a true freshmen and a red shirt freshmen. It's going to take a while for those guys to get better.

Two, we are running a read option offense with a QB that is no threat to keep the ball. This prevents us from keeping defenses honest and we are allowing DE's and OLB's to crash down and key on our running backs.

I said it last year and I'm still saying it now. I DO NOT LIKE our offensive identity. This zone read system that we are running looks slow as hell and I just don't feel like we have the right personnel to run it the way CBJ and staff envision it. Give me an I-formation with a fullback and a tailback, run it down opponent's throats and execute play action.

it improved today almost a yard per carry. I know its still pretty brutal but atleast it got a little better. Not sure it will matter much the next few weeks. I was wondering where Marlin was as well.

It'll definitely get better as soon as Butch gets his own players filtered in. It'll be another year or two before he has the personnel to run the style of play he wants.

What holes? Our holes are tighter than a camel's ass in a sandstorm. Our line will improve, but they are young as hell.
