I can't believe there isn't a thread devoted to all things "The Office". There's so much to discuss about this show, so many good memes and quotes, and, who doesn't want to talk about the prospect for a reunion?

I'll post my favorite gif here. Hopefully you'll follow suit with yours.

How many times have you watched The Office?

My wife and I are on our 5th or 6th time through right now.

At least twice for me. Not to mention random episodes now and then. The show died, unfortunately, when Steve Carell left.

I really like the Office, and tho Michael made for some great laughs, I thought the show had a better quality to it when he left. Michael being a boss and continuing to be a boss is not at all believable and that always irked me. By the time he left, the show was well into its run and getting stale, but I think it would have been a better overall show if it started with Andy. It's a great ensemble cast and you don't need a star to take on 70% of the show's burden. I want more Kevin, Gabe, Stanley, Creed, Phyllis, and Toby. And I don't mean this as any disrespect to Carrell. He was great, I blame the writing. MS drove his car into the lake because GPS told him? It's just too dumb to find it funny.

I found the post-Michael episodes just as enjoyable as the originals with the exception of literally every scene Andy was in.

Hmm, really? That's an unusual take. I haven't met many people who share that opinion.

I thought once Michael left, the show got a little sitcom-ish. I was almost waiting for an episode where they dubbed in studio laughter at the punchlines. The Jim-Pam marriage troubles and the Dwight-Angela storyline were the only ones I found to be even the slightest bit compelling. Everything else just felt like typical, feel-good nonsense being spoon fed to the audience.

As far as Michael being farfetched as a boss, that was kind of the point. Him being a man-child that was completely out of touch with reality is what created a lot of the awkwardness which was the hallmark of the show from the beginning. Plus his employees and his bosses constantly covered for his inadequacies while still being able to do productive and profitable work for the company. Not to mention, I've seen a bunch of morons in middle management and honestly, Michael isn't that much worse than some of them. So I never really questioned him being able to stay employed as long as he did. He was at least personable and endearing when it came to selling paper.

Either way, great show and one of my favorite comedies.

I don't think the point was to make him far-fetched. I think the point was to make him wacky for laughs. You can have a wacky and/or inappropriate boss, but he has to be strong in other areas, for example, you can get away with being inappropriate as long as you don't make problems for corporate, but MS was always doing that. Michael is basically a complete idiot in every way. He has like 2 strong career moments in the entire series, that I can think of (closing the big account with Tim Meadows, and the competing company to DM that he started).

I think most fans of the show liked MS a lot. For the people who find him too over the top, it makes the show almost unwatchable. I'm in the weird middle where he began to wear on me so I walked away for a couple years, and then came back and finished strong.

Just finished watching the finale and pilot on comedy central. I've seen every episode probably at least 3 times. Some episodes I'll just watch when I get bored and I've seen those a lot more, Dinner Party being my go to. It's a great show. No matter how many times I've seen it it still manages to make me chuckle.

What are your "I literally just can't stand it" episodes?

Mine is Scott's Tots. We skip it every time. I've only seen it once.

I couldn't make it through the episode. It made me so uncomfortable even though I knew it was a television show lol

The surprise at the end of the workday episode. So much uncomfortable silence. 😖
