"Someone very familiar with all of their games told me this week that Nkamhoua is further along at this stage of his development than either Grant Williams."

I find that extremely generous and difficult to believe based on what I've seen and remember about Williams as a FR, but if true, it gives me a ton of hope. Athletically, I wouldn't be surprised if he ORN is ahead of GW, but from a skills standpoint, it really surprises me. Grant was very young for his class, too, which may contribute to their differences in development.

It’s good to hear that JJ is improving we are going to need him to be at least a consistent 5-10 point scorer next year.
To me, JJ flashes talent but it’s been mostly untapped to this point. Hopefully he finds his mojo this season and starts playing up to his potential and takes a huge step forward. If he doesn’t then it’s time to graduate and move on as younger talent is in the pipeline. I’m rooting for him.

Yeah I have a hard time believing that. It means you could pencil in ORN as the starter at 4.

And maybe you can. I don't know. If those quotes are accurate, the PF spot is seemingly as open sans GW as it was when GW stepped in and started as a true FR. There are guys with more experience in the system who could fill that role, but it remains unseen how talented they are.

Barnes traditionally has two posts guys that start and play, but I’m curious if he goes small and uses Pons as the starting 4

I've been looking at the 247 composite rankings for basketball the last couple of days. I'm pretty sure they're using the same methodology as they do for football. The short version is that they average the player's rankings (I'm using Rivals, ESPN, and 247). Subtract 1 from that number. Multiply that result by 0.0005 (football uses 0.0004). Take that result and subtract it from 1 to get the player's rating and then order the player's by their rating to get the ranking. Looking at this mornings numbers, using that set of calculations gets close but it's not exact. It does look like they've included the 5/5 Rivals update since the numbers come out closer using the post-5/5 Rivals numbers. The difference between my number's and the current composite I suspect is due to updated 247 and/or ESPN rankings that aren't currently reflected in the composite but that's hard to tell since ESPN doesn't provide their history. For example, 247 just recently dropped Jalen Johnson from 3 to 4. If you change his 247 ranking from 4 to 3, the numbers come out exact. There are also errors in their database (see Jalen Suggs ranking on his individual page, I don't even know what to do with that one). My guess is that, since they use this same basic formula for football and basketball, they use the same formula for calculating position rankings as well.

I admit that I haven't watched tape. I would guess that ORN is further along athletically and handling the basketball. Grant still had some times his last two years that he fumbled the ball. That said, I am sure it will take some time for him to really contribute.

Some players just have don't have a motor. Johnson had looked like one of these players so far. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see him ever having anything but a minor role. Right now we are thin in the backcourt so he may get a good shot to prove me wrong.

Hearing some criticism of Barnes for not attending graduation. Anyone know the details of why he wasn't there for those guys ?

Spent mother’s day with his daughter and grandkids

I'll say if that was the extent of the plan he should have been in Knoxville on Saturday and with family on Sunday. I know he has more use of the private jet as part of his new contract and this was the perfect time for that

Seriously - as fans we now are entitled to judge the coaches on how they interact with their own families?
