Mothers day was Sunday

Private jets sure are nice and convient to use. Ever flown in one?

Maybe they celebrated on Saturday? Or maybe someone was having a kid? Or maybe there was a funeral? Or maybe there was a gathering?

I simply stated he was there for mother’s day, the fact you want to criticize and judge that is beyond pathetic and probably your worst move yet.

he should have been there unless one of his family members had a similar type day.

Look its simply. If it was an either or thing sure doing the family thing was most important. You didn't state it that way and I responded. If it was only about Mother's Day he gets usage of the private jet for personal use and could easily done that and taken care of both graduation and family.

especially when you aren't privy to every detail of his social calendar.

Agreed that's why I ask the initial question.

Also I can say the criticism I've heard about this is from guys that have poured a lot of $ into the program. So it's not just me. In fact I defended Barnes when I heard it saying we didn't know exactly what his schedule was

But if there wasn't anything more than Mother's Day then I think the criticism is warranted and he could have done both

To me, JJ flashes talent but it’s been mostly untapped to this point. Hopefully he finds his mojo this season and starts playing up to his potential and takes a huge step forward. If he doesn’t then it’s time to graduate and move on as younger talent is in the pipeline. I’m rooting for him.
Great talent, but just hasn't harnessed it yet. I see nothing so far to suggest he will make a big jump, but I hope I'm wrong.

Well not exactly but graduation is an important day and imo he should have been there unless one of his family members had a similar type day.
Remember that at any given time, Barnes (or anyone) is acting on much more information than we possibly could have. I say let the man make his own decisions without others deciding what he should do.

This is beyond stupid to be arguing about. We are inventing things to be outraged over. Like or hate Barnes, this is the definition of nitpicking, especially when you aren't privy to every detail of his social calendar.

It saddesn me how stupid this fanbase can be sometimes. And yeah I know all fanbases are like this, but I naively used to think ours was better. Boy was I wrong.

His hemorrhoids were flared up terribly and his only comfort was sitting in a tub of hot water.

I guess he should have put out a statement like that to please those looking to piss and moan.

Not saying their will be anything to this but rumor but here we go again.

Piece of an article on top coaches for the Michigan job:

Big name hunting
There's no reason Manuel shouldn't see if Tony Bennett would be interested in leaving Virginia or if Michigan, for some reason, is the job that finally lures Mark Few away from Gonzaga. Bennett, 49, won this year's national championship. Few, 56, has built Gonzaga into a national powerhouse.
Rick Barnes, while older (65) and less successful in recent years than those two, has won nearly 700 games. He took Tennessee to the Sweet 16 last season and was reportedly ready to leave for UCLA until a buyout got in the way.

I think he has in his new contract 10 trips designated for personal use of the a private jet
The point he's making is that in some people's eyes, Barnes is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He will be criticized for not going to graduation, and he'd be criticized for poor allotment of funds to take a private plane to get to graduation.

Moral of the story is that you can't please everyone, so don't bother trying. Instead, do what you need to do, win games, and ignore the BS.

At this point, I'm in the "Who cares?" camp. I want to keep Barnes because I like what he has done with our program and the culture surrounding it. But, it is clear that his comments re: UCLA, despite their honesty and transparency, have driven a wedge between himself and a vocal portion of our fanbase that nothing short of a national title can dislodge at his current salary. If he thinks flirting with a second top-10 program in six weeks is a good idea, then maybe he just isn't very smart or very self-aware, at least not as much as he appeared to be in January & February when he literally could do no wrong.

I have a hard time seeing him make that mistake, but nothing is impossible, so we will see. This is a case where Fulmer should have doubled his buyout in his new contract. He did the university no favors in terms of protecting itself in RB's amended deal.

Michigan will probably be fishing in NBA waters before they get to Barnes.

No, the buyout was unchanged if RB leaves ($1 million per season left on the deal). Meanwhile, Tennessee is now on the hook for the entire remaining amount if they fire him without cause.

Gotcha. Thx

The question might be did he sign the contract. I know at the presser he said he hadn't signed it yet
