The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Bought a Ruger LCR .22 Mag for my wife. No hammer, light, 6 rounds, .22 Mag hollows...more damage than .38.
Where's that from?

I've done extensive research (and posted about calibers somewhere in here lol). Nothing I've seen has said .22 Mag is better than .380

*Plus I'll take 13 over 6 all day.

I can't say I know for certain but I would imagine most self defense rounds for 38 special or 380 acp are going to pack more energy than a 22 magnum, unless the 22 mag is coming from a rifle.

Can't put my finger on it now but read article in gun mag sometime back. You are correct that 38 n 32 pack more energy upon impact. The focus of this article was that .22 mag hollow frags and does way more tissue damage than 38 n 32. This article quoted a surgeon saying it did more damage to the body to dig out all the pieces but, then there are infection issues if you don't.

I don't buy it. Plus, "infection issues" aren't a factor in self defense.

I'll research it tomorrow, but I would bet almost anything that a 38 with SD ammo does significantly more damage than a 22 mag. Like a lot more.

Picked up a Sig P320 X5 DH3 and Sig 1911 Spartan II on a trade over the weekend. Looking forward to shooting them. I think the DH3 is going to be a fun range gun and I'm eager to put some rounds through the 1911 since I haven't had one in a while...but I'll definitely change the grips on the 1911 if I decide to keep it (Spartan helmets are a bit much and I don't like the feel).

That's not a real 1911 ;)

I don't like much of Sig, but they do make decent enough stuff.

I can hold it, so that's real enough.

I've always been more comfortable and accurate with Sigs, but that was with the old P229 and P245 I used to have. We'll see how the P320 does since it's a totally different feel. The Sig 1911 feels similar enough to a Colt 1911 I used to have, so I'm sure it will shoot great. I'll probably put it up against a S&W 645 I have that's been tricked out for bowling pin competitions and see if it's worthy of sticking around. I'm not a collector, so it'll go if it's not something I'll want to take to the range every now and then.

I was talking abut it being a Series 80, not a Series 70.

I absolutely love my P226 Legion*.

*I'm almost positive that's my only Sig lol
