The Official #6 [2] Tennessee vs. #18 [3] Kentucky Game Thread, 7:39 PM ET, TBS/truTV

I enjoyed all week suggesting that Kentucky's tournament wins leading up to last night were fool's gold. They beat hapless Troy and got the win over a pretty bad looking Illinois team. Prior to that they got drummed by 30 points to Bama. I never saw the "Kentucky's back" narrative as all that viable, and last night Tennessee was obliging enough to confirm it.

Was just watching the replay on CBS Sports and the moronic double technical call is still ridiculous and the announcers just compounded the error by agreeing with it. Gainey was trying to box out a 7ft, 250 lb guy and it was just a blatant wrestling takedown by Williams and I can’t see any other call that could be made. How they looked at that on replay and called it a double foul is beyond me. But again the refereeing nowadays never ceases to amaze and I guess we all just have to live with it.

It’s almost always a double tech when they review something like that, no matter how blatantly obvious it is that only one player should be assessed. The reason why is because…well, I don’t really know other than college basketball officiating just sucks.

They didn’t call the regular foul on Gainey. The refs aren’t allowed to call a missed common foul from a review. So their make up was assessing the F-1 against him - even though he didn’t commit a flagrant foul. A Doug Shows S*** Show.

It was actually a big call for us as it was Williams’ 4th foul forcing him to be more cautious defensively.

I have a real problem. Chris Lofton was my all time favorite Vol player. But now’s it’s Zakai Ziegler. I can’t pick one over the other. Can I have two?
Chris appeared indifferent in the stands. Every time they showed him as part of the crowd he was sitting down, arms folded or on his phone while everyone else was standing and cheering. Even on the back to back buckets by Felix and ZZ in the 2nd half, he showed no emotion. I’ve rewatched the game 4 times - he was in the background any time the ball was on that end of the court and there is no reaction on almost every play. Having grown up a Kentucky fan and dreamed of playing there he might’ve been a little conflicted.

What does that have to do with being someone’s favorite player? Watching people in the background is kinda weird.

Nothing. You brought up Chris so I made an observation on his behavior in the stands. Any time I rewatch games or big plays I love seeing the different reactions from people in the crowd. He happened to stand out because his behavior was so different from everyone else’s. If that’s weird to you, so be it.
