Ted Schwanger came to UT from Sandusky, Ohio in 1952. In 2 seasons for the Vols he had 142 carries for 743 yards & 2 touchdowns. He also kicked 6 PATs, returned 7 kickoffs for 155 yards and had 2 interceptions.
He got married after his sophomore season. General Neyland had a rule that if you got married you lost your scholarship so he finished his career at Tennessee Tech.

Before securing a Super Bowl XLIV victory with the Saints, Marvin Mitchell played for the Vols from 2002 to 2006. During his collegiate career, he amassed 154 tackles, including 15 for loss and one sack. He also forced three fumbles and recorded two interceptions, one of which he returned 17 yards for a touchdown to kick off the scoring in Tennessee’s 31-24 victory over South Carolina in 2006.

Charlie Garner came to Knoxville from Justice High School in Falls Church, Virginia via Scottsdale Arizona Community College. He ran for 2,089 yards and 10 touchdowns in his 2 seasons with The Big Orange. (1992-1993).

Garner was a 2nd round pick by The Eagles in 1994. He played in the NFL for 10 years with The Eagles, 49ers, Raiders, & Bucs.

One of Garner's standout games at UT was a 151 yards and 1 touchdown effort on just 16 carries in a 62-14 win over Vandy in 1993.

Omar Gaither joined the University of Tennessee from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Between 2002 and 2005, he tallied 210 total tackles, including 148 solo stops and 62 assists. He also notched 6 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, forced 5 fumbles, recovered 1, and grabbed 2 interceptions.

Gaither was selected in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He went on to play eight seasons in the NFL, with stints at Philadelphia, Carolina, Oakland, and Atlanta.

From 1995 to 1998, Peerless Price recorded 147 receptions for 2,298 yards and 19 touchdowns, while also rushing for 122 yards and a touchdown. He returned 19 kickoffs for 480 yards, including a 100-yard touchdown return in a 35-18 victory over Alabama. Selected in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, Price played nine seasons in the NFL with the Bills, Falcons, and Cowboys.

Jauan Jennings, a standout from Murfreesboro, made his mark at UT and ranks among the greatest receivers in WRU history. With 146 receptions (5th), 2,153 yards (4th), and 18 touchdowns (tied 5th), his legacy is secured. He also contributed with 93 yards and 1 touchdown rushing, threw 2 touchdowns, and added 10 tackles and an interception on defense.

He’ll be remembered for his dramatic Hail Mary catch to stun Georgia in the Dobbs Nail Boot, and for burning Teez Tabor with a touchdown in Tennessee's 2016 win over Florida.

Jennings was selected by the 49ers in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jermaine Copeland attended the University of Tennessee from 1995 to 1998. During his college career, he showcased his versatility by throwing for 199 yards on 17-of-24 passing, rushing for 145 yards and 4 touchdowns on 31 carries, and adding 269 yards on 34 punt returns. While he contributed in multiple areas, his primary role was at wide receiver, where he recorded 103 receptions for 1,361 yards and 10 touchdowns. Copeland was instrumental in helping the Vols win back-to-back SEC Championships in 1997 and 1998, culminating in a national championship in 1998.


Professionally, he played for the Los Angeles Xtreme and helped them capture the 2001 XFL Championship. He went on to have a successful career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2001 to 2011, earning three All-Star selections. He is one of just 15 players in CFL history to surpass 10,000 career receiving yards. Copeland played for the Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders, and Toronto Argonauts—winning the Grey Cup with Montreal in 2002 and Calgary in 2008.

Joe Milton III joined the University of Tennessee from Olympia High School in Orlando, after previously playing at Michigan.

In his first two seasons with the Volunteers, he had passed for 1,346 yards and 12 touchdowns, completing 85 of 144 attempts. He has also rushed for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns on 46 carries.
