All it is is a hedge though. If Zion does become a LeBron-type of player, they'll claim they called it. If he doesn't, they can say "Well I never said he would be as good as LeBron," which is technically accurate. It's a statement constructed so that no matter what happens with his career, the pundit can plausibly claim to be correct.I agree they’re trying to drive excitement by saying Lebron’s name, but I’m not willing to concede it’s an attempt to say he’s that good.

It's just so unfair to use the name of any player, former or current, who is one of the best to ever play and associate their name with a current prospect. There are just much better ways to say it, like "Zion is one of the most impressive prospects over the last 15 years," which is a totally true statement, but I suppose one that doesn't attract as many clicks.
Oh come on, they clearly are saying that wanting people to make the association. It's the only reason to bring LeBron's name up in a comparison.
It doesn't. But most of the Duke supporters take such delight over the wrongdoing at UNC (which was far more widespread than just athletes), while completely ignoring the fact Duke has its own skeletons in the closet.
And, although this is admittedly a far reach, I don't think it's beyond comprehension that Duke's stellar reputation in the medical research field is part of the total package that would make Duke an attractive destination for a blue-chip recruit...especially when juxtaposed with the almost certain negative recruiting that is afforded to Duke coaches as it relates to the UNC academic ordeal.

I had actually added to my post while you were replying...addressing your points (and admitting the reach of my argument).Don’t pull a muscle with that stretch.
One school’s fraud directly involved student athletes in multiple sports.
Unless those fake grants at Duke went into researching indestructible shoes for Zion, there’s virtully no correlation between the two.
the Duke folks need to quit acting like the institution is as clean and pure as the wind-driven snow.
