I'm surprised that such simple rules can create such mass confusion. Luckily, there are recruiting guru's on here that have simplified this information. I am just a messenger of their teachings......I would prefer this thread to be kept for those in need of enlightenment, so the same thing doesn't have to be explained another 100000000X........
Each college can only enroll up to 25 scholarship players per year, plus up to 3 players who you can sign & place.......
Sign & place means they don't have good enough grades to qualify, so they are sent to Prep school for 1 year, or Juco for 1-2 years. At that time, the recruit can either try to come back to the school he signed with, or go to another school, bc/ his original LOI was null and void.....this gives a maximum of 28 signees/ year, aka the Ole Miss rule.......
However, for early enrollees that come to school before Dec. 31, they can be back-counted to the previous recruiting year, if the school enrolled less than the 25 allowed.......
I don't think there is a limit to back-counting, but schools must also follow the overall 85 scholarship limit, which also comes into play when figuring out how many scholarships are available.
