The Official Georgia Game Thread

We were very close on a couple of deep balls Saturday. They will come.

I believe with Clausen getting more practice reps in the weeks to come it will improve the rythm between he and his receivers.

If he'd only been getting those reps since early August ...... :banghead:

I think its going to be really low scoring. But really Georgia may be alittle to overrated. They have had the luxury of playing a whole bunch of nobodies as we have had the hard war battles already. I think we get it done 27-10.

Dont know about you guys but I am giddy this week and am having a hard time doing anything. Work has got me in Atlanta this week training so I have to find some time to sit back and reflect on this weekends game. As usuall I think it will be a great game and can't wait to see how our team handles a good defense. Lets get it on and have a good injury free game.

Its going to be interesting to see how Shockley plays in a really big game, with everything on the line. I got to be honest with you, I really like the way we match up with Ga this year. We got one of the best run defenses ever, if they try to run against it which they have too, they are playing into our hands.

The D has had experience at playing against mobile QB's this year. Leak was probably the least mobile of them all, if that gives you any idea of what they've faced. Shockley though is probably the quickest and fastest they will have seen yet. We can handle their running game if we don't leave the D out there for 40 minutes of the game to get worn down.

The UGA D will be 8 in the box and playing our receivers tight at the line to try to take away Slick Rick's effecient short passing game. They'll be begging him to float one downfield, and will probably keep a safety back there to play centerfield on it for an INT.

I think UT needs to spread the field to keep those guys out of the box and allow Riggs some room. We'll need plenty of misdirection plays as noted earlier to use their speed against them. But the WR must find a way to get separation because they will be in their face all game long.

Agreed, JCVol. We have some BIG receivers... they need to muscle up this week-end and use that size. I mean look at Meachem and Swain, those guys are what 6'2:, 6'3" 215+! Plus they can fly. I recall Swain in his Freshman year making some quite spectacular catches. I'd like to see some of that this week-end. On the defensive side of the ball I want to see our LB's separating helmets from heads. Simon has had some bonecrushing hits. If our D can rattle them, espcially Shockley that should set the tone for the game. I mean look what we have done to both Leak and Ja. Russel. We got to them quite a few times and from there on out they were a bit timid! GO VOLS!!!
MAN I'M FIRED UP!!!!

Riggs looked great doing that against Ole Miss. Not only does the spread work better for Rick, it works better for Riggs IMO.

Yeah, but you don't have a LB with a melon thumping cast.

So was Auburns last year. Plus it worked some during the LSU game. Just talking about speed, I would say that LSU and UGA are pretty equal.

Well, we didn't lose for lack of running, that's for sure. I added more to my post above but I'll say it again. Riggs did pretty well running and catching out the shotgun against LSU. He didn't do it much, but still. Just talking about speed, I would say that LSU and UGA are pretty equal.

No doubt they are close in speed but I think our LB's are a little faster (come on its my team). Also I think Blue hits harder than anyone else in the SEC. He scares me sometimes. Plus you know I have to give you something to talk about OWB.

As far as defensive performance goes, UGA beats LSU to death. That's what worries me. I think this is going to be a very defensive game, but only if we can contain Shock and stop the 20 RB's you all have. I just don't see Clausen giving UGA any trouble.

I definatley think that its going to be a defensive battle. As for Clausen even though his family hasn't had great success against us I dont count anyting out. Remeber we said Ainge was to young last year to hurt us and look what happend. As long as both teams coming in focused this could be a classic. Oh yeah I love the fact that we got a week off to prepare.

I'm not really sure how to compare the two teams really. Looking at the schedule already, UT has the advantage in experience. The question is, have they learned anything?

You all looked great against Boise State, very dominant performance. Then you struggled with USC, turned around and destroyed La. Monroe and then didn't blow out Miss State and only one of those was a road game.

We on the other hand, played a tough UAB team (or so we would like to think), played UF at the swamp and lost then went to LSU to win and beat Ole miss kind of like you all beat Miss State.

So as far as playing quality teams, we have the edge even though we didn't look great in any of those games.

I'm not really sure why I just typed all that other than to ask you how Shock handled the crowd at Miss State??

UGA has the number one offense in the SEC right now, but they have not played a team with a defense. The best out of the 4 was South Carolina. I'm curious to see what they get done against our defense.

Yeah I agree completely with that as well. I would like see is us go 4 wide outs or 3 and a tight end and a single back set. Spread them out cover the field, give Riggs room to run. I always been a big fan of doing that.

Personally I think Shock handled the crowd great. It was the play calling that I think really caused us to suffer. No reason we should be running delayed draws or misdirections, freaking line up in the I and run it down their throat. If we had done that against USC you would have seen a score similar to what UAT has against them. I dont know if we are holding back or just trying to be too cute. Either way we are going to have to step it up against UT and from what I hear that is what CMR is preaching this week. ATTITUDE all the great teams have it and we need to show it.

I have been thinking about the matchups in this game. I really think our defense can stop their run. This game may very well come down to the QB play on both sides. Thoughts?

Like I said in another thread, if the point total for both teams exceeds 35 points, I will be shocked.

Probably a good prediction. They put up 40+ against BSU and La-Monroe, but only 17 against USC and 23 against Mississippi St. The over/under is probably somewhere in the mid to high 30s.

I just checked . . . the Over/Under right now is 39.5.

Personally, I hope they play 8 or 9 in the box. :lolabove: That will keep them in Man defense and I really believe our receivers will be death on them betweem 15-18 yds. :devilsmoke: With 8 in the box corners and crossiing patterns over the middle will be open. :lolabove:
