I watched that game last night. The kicker missed the field goal because of the holder. The holder had the laces of the ball facing the kicker, so the kickers foot hit the laces and not pure ball.

Most holders will spin the ball, so the laces are away from the kickers foot, but not this guy.

That likely cost them the S.E.C. East slot in the S.E.C. Championship game.

He did it twice in the game. Both times were very near misses. Ordinarily, I'd call crap on the difference it makes, but when the kicks are that close, you can be certain the laces were enough to be the deciding factor.

I think "misery" may be appropriate.

Wow, I had forgotten Missouri was the victim to both the 5th down and the miracle kick deflection touchdown.

I can't believe they couldn't keep up with the number of downs, even in 1990. And I don't even think he got in on 5th down. Plus how stupid are those announcers? The color guy already corrected the down count saying it should have been 3rd down when it said 2nd, and they both STILL couldn't figure out the last spike was 4th down.

Sorry man, nothing personal; volnation tradition for a thread to no holds barred make fun of the next opponent...I also might be one of the few here that actually knew about Missouri's history enough to not just copy something that was made on a KU board lol


To be honest, you guys really got a raw deal with the 5th down.
