The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Mariota will have to stay healthy, get better at reading defenses both presnap and in play. If he can do those two things we might have us a long term qb.

This Titans coaching staff has IT.

The defensive additions have seen they are capable of applying pressure on the qb. That was my biggest fear but they are legit.

Year 2 for Mariota proved he is a capable starter. Leading comebacks in the playoffs plus this great showing today shows he has the clutch gene. His statistical floor this year should be somewhere around year 2. Anything that noticeably differs from that floor would cause me to question his ability to enter the ranks of the elite or even upper tier 2 QBs.

Sure hope more Titan fans come to next home game. There was a huge number of Eagles fans but the ones around us were fine. They had the parachutes landing during Star Spangled Banner, Delanie Walker as 12th Titan, TSU band at halftime plus one of the most amazing Titan home games ever. Certainly a memorable day.
Going to my first pro football game ever again the Ravens. Good chance both teams will be 4-1. Pretty pumped.

Mariota earned his 11th career game-winning drive (including playoffs) on Sunday, and since the start of the 2017 season, his six-such drives in the regular season lead all NFL quarterbacks.

My game Eagles Titans prediction was mostly right.

A 26-23 valiant great impressive challenging comeback win for the Titans defeating the Favorite High Flying Eagles in overtime, and they showed they are a Valiant Gritty Resilient tenacious or persistent team, also showed they are Champions with a indomitable Spirit.
That really does seem a hell of lot like the MCU Captain America that said I can do this all day he said when fighting his friend changed to Foe Iron Man, and doesn't give the hell up or won't quit which his archenemy Red Skull outright said.
Or You can use the analogy Eagles are Iron Man basically a Heavyweight with a swiss army high quantity arsenal , and Titans are Captain America the Super Soldier and the Captain America Shield is their Impressive Bend don't break Defense a main reason why they've Defeated Eagles, Texans, and Jaguars all of which had chances to win close games vs the Titans 1 more than the other 2 the Eagles.

The Eagles like the T-1000 the regenerative powerhouse Liquid Metal Terminator from the terrific movie Terminator 2 would not go the hell away , and the Titans a T-800 Terminator defeated a great ruthless tenacious adversary not in regulation since Eagles tied the game 20-20 to send the game to overtime, and in Overtime which was with bulk of that Extra Period the Titans showing they will not be freakin denied a victory this time vs a great team in the it was the Titans against a Huge amount of Doubters in this game Dejavu of that 2017 Rams Game week 16 they didn't finish and lost to a great Rams team that had a Wonderful scoring offense same as the Warner Saint Louis Rams.
They moved the Ball including getting 1st downs when on 4th downs, and on 3rd on goal for the 3rd consecutive win and again by 3 points exactly Mariota throws to Davis that jumps perfectly and catches the ball.

It was a dramatic exciting close terrific challenging game that the Titans won 26-23 my score prediction 27-21 so 1 off for Titans and 2 off for Eagles, amount of victory 2 points lower, Mariota throws 2 touchdowns he did that, Henry runs for a touchdown didn't happen, Titans defense didn't have a int still had that 1 fumble recovery which was after Wentz was lit the hell up like he was hit by badass ex Army Soldier Jack Reacher, a T-800 Terminator, or Super Soldier Captain America, and Titans had won top by a narrow margin 35:30 and were effective when holding the football to keep Wentz and the offense arsenal on the sidelines having to defend less the Wonderful Wentz less along with the Eagles offense arsenal.
So mostly succeeded in 1st half except couldn't continue which is why the Titans had to come back from 17-3, and 23-20.

The Titans is a bend don't break defending when needed including late 4th was shown because they got a big turnover scored a fg to make the score 17-13, again defended so the Titan could score a td to reclaim the lead 20-17 since they were leading 3-0 before Eagles flew high, they did defend late 4th with Eagles could't get another 1st down so they kicked a field to tie the game, and great job by the Titans punter Kern preventing what would have been a td for Eagles to take the lead 24-20, and while the Eagles were able to move the ball far in Overtime they couldn't get a 1st down so held to a field goal 23-20 giving the Titans a chance to win the game with a touchdown. Also Titans defense was able to hold the Eagles to 3 points after Mariota threw a int which undeniably he is to blame he was desperate to make play with pressure in his face so I understand he didn't want to take the sack except can't deny he is to blame for that int instead of throw the ball away.
Sometimes it's better to throw the ball away than try to make a play.
I'm a great Mariota fan and will call a oreo a oreo, no rose colored Titans glasses when Mariota makes a irrefutable mistake because he did for that play which is why the Eagles increased the lead 10-3 so a big bullet was dodged because the Titans defense was tyrannical and bend don't break when needed including after that soul crushing int and soul crushing because of where it happened giving the Eagles a great field which is a main reason why Eagles scored 3 points before the end of 1st half.

The Titans did make a statement defeating a Great Team The Defending Super Bowl Champions Eagles since most persons don't expect them to win the evidence is shown with most persons picked the Eagles if I recall right 90 percent on NFL Sports yahoo picked the Eagles,ESPN NFL picks Woodson and Bruschi both picked the Flying Eagles, only 1 person on ESPN SNF Countdown picked the Titans, I saw predictions by Fans on conversation sections NFL and Yahoo the Eagles win 38-9, 35-17 by a Eagle fans, 1 Eagles fan on Sports Yahoo the Titans have no chance in hell of winning which goes against logic of FPI along with these 2 freakin NFL teams including a talented great coached likely great Titans team that since 2016 has won 14 of last 16 home games before the game, and now 15 of last 17 home games so yes that is 1 of the most asinine moronic unintelligent utterly delusional statements to say the Titans have no chance in hell of winning a home game vs the Eagles which was proven yesterday and the last 16 home games results before the game along with a talented playing great Titans team shows that statement has 0 intelligent valid intelligent evidence to support a abysmal unintelligent bullcrap claim , other score predictions from sports yahoo of Eagles Titans with Eagles winning 27-14, 28-10, 30-17, etc
.
Mariota was able to run when needed including Overtime to reduce that 3rd and long to 4th and short amount along with for a td, he was effective passing the ball including a game winning drive in Overtime, a drive to take the lead 20-17 in regulation, 1st drive of the game a reason why Titans won top it was narrow amount still won the TOP, along with moved the football because for entire game Game Lewis and Henry were mostly contained. I recall seeing a big run by Henry for a 1st and a pretty good run by Henry in overtime which was bulk of his yards.
Mariota was able to run when needed and was effective with passing the ball which is why the Titans won TOP narrowly, and moved the football.

The Titans haven’t been taken seriously since 1999. Even in 08 nobody thought the Titans were tough enough. I think maybe the doubters may see something different after yesterday.

This really does seem like a replay of the 1999 Season and that had persons repeatedly doubting the Titans chances of defeating a terrific Rams team with 1 of the greatest scoring offenses in Nashville, the Jaguars even in the damn afc championship game after a sweep and only team to defeat the Jaguars for that entire 1st season as the Titans, etc.

Also I recall when they won 10 of 11 to advance to the afc championship game in the 2002 season after a 1-4 start, and a guy named Jordan in my High School had the audacity and showed he's a damn unintelligent delusional fool saying the Titans aren't a good team which may have been after they won 3 or 4 consecutive games.

1 Guy on SNF Countdown picked the Titans so really this was the Titans vs the World mostly and unlike that damn Rams game this Titans team finished a comeback and won defeating a great team that had the advantage of winning according to FPI since it was 57 percent if I recall right.

1 Guy a great analyst is giving the Titans respect calling them a gritty team since 2016 the Sportsguy he picked the Titans to win and cover vs the Eagles. If you want to watch his NFL week picks including for NFL Week 4 here is the video.
He gives reasons for his picks will recap the games from last week, and variety the spice of life usually wears a different sports sweatshirt and has different Hats. He's a guy that might have more than a dozen sports sweatshirts and more than a dozen Team Hats.

It is interesting listening to the national media. Most I've seen have admitted we have been impressive, but they seem surprised by it, as if we didn't, ya know, win a freaking playoff game last year...lol.

Let's overreact!

Let's overreact to Week 4 in the NFL: Is the Bears' offense for real?

The Titans are going to the Super Bowl

For the third week in a row, Tennessee won a miracle game -- this time in overtime against the defending Super Bowl champs. And while Weeks 2 and 3 were mishmash games with their offense not at full strength, this was a 26-point, 397-yard, fourth-down-converting answer to all the Mariota doubters out there.

Graziano's verdict: NOT AN OVERREACTION. Hey, the AFC isn't all that great. The Patriots and Steelers have looked wobbly. The Chiefs can't keep up what they're doing. The Jaguars can't beat the Titans. Why not this bunch? They just won two straight games against 2017 playoff teams and they have only two more of those left -- home against both the Patriots in November and Jacksonville in December. The hard part of the 2018 season for the Titans may already be over, and they're 3-1.

Still amped up over that win. This is a young team with a great culture. Sky is the limit.

But I can't figure out MM. He's clutch for sure but inconsistent. Has all the tools to be elite, IMO. Lightning fast release and arm strength is good enough to succeed. Can also pick up crucial first downs with his feet. But he does some headscratching stuff a little often right now (bad pick aside vs Philly, he was amazing on Sunday...but those performances are rare outside of 4th quarter comebacks).

I actually think he may be a guy who doesn't truly "breakthrough" until maybe his 6th or 7th year in the league. He's still only 24 years old and is on his third OC/HC int the NFL. I really think he has the "it" factor but it seems like few experts are sold on him.
