The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Still amped up over that win. This is a young team with a great culture. Sky is the limit.

But I can't figure out MM. He's clutch for sure but inconsistent. Has all the tools to be elite, IMO. Lightning fast release and arm strength is good enough to succeed. Can also pick up crucial first downs with his feet. But he does some headscratching stuff a little often right now (bad pick aside vs Philly, he was amazing on Sunday...but those performances are rare outside of 4th quarter comebacks).

I actually think he may be a guy who doesn't truly "breakthrough" until maybe his 6th or 7th year in the league. He's still only 24 years old and is on his third OC/HC int the NFL. I really think he has the "it" factor but it seems like few experts are sold on him.

I think the issues with Mariota have all been about continuity and health. He hasn’t had much fortune with either, particularly the former.

Regarding this season, LaFleur’s offense is relatively complex even by NFL standards. Mariota will probably only improve as the season progresses and his comfort level improves. One thing I noticed a great deal of from him in the preseason was hesitation and mistiming. I saw much less of it on Sunday.

He also really hasn't had any weapons around him. It finally looks like Davis might become that go to receiver but he hasn't had any playmakers that can help take over a game.

Other than Walker you’re pretty much correct. Matthews had his moments over the past couple of years, particularly in 2016, but nothing compared to what Davis potentially offers.

The Titans haven’t been taken seriously since 1999. Even in 08 nobody thought the Titans were tough enough. I think maybe the doubters may see something different after yesterday.

Pretty sure they were in 2000 (when they went 13-3 and had the best regular season record in the league), 2002 (when they tied for the best record in the AFC at 11-5, won the division, and made it all the way to the AFC Conference Championship game), and 2003 (when McNair won the MVP and they went 12-4).

And honestly, they were in 2008 as well, mostly from how shutdown-level the defense was and the running game...that was the whole “Smash and Dash” period during Chris Johnson’s rookie year.

The media never took us real seriously after McNair and George. In 08 nobody even considered the Titans as a threat. Much like now it’s more about the Eagles losing than the Titans winning.

I remember us being in the discussion pretty much all season. Keep in mind, Fisher still had a great reputation around the league and with the national media. That team regularly drew comparisons to the '02 Bucs and '00 Ravens. Hell, there were a few in the media who thought Haynesworth was a legitimate MVP candidate.

If anything, it was the Titans who failed to hold up their end of the bargain after crapping the bed in the divisional round.

Dreaded word....potential. I hope he keeps it up.

If he stays healthy, I think he will. There is nothing about his game I don't like, and he isn't a head case like Kenny Britt was.

My concern is that nobody else steps up, leaving teams free to try and lock him down.

I remember we started that season 10-0. Oh how I hate the damn Ravens Ed Reed played so damn dirty snd the refs pretended to be blind that whole game

The 2008 13-0 streak was pretty awesome too. I wonder how different it would have been if Vince Young didnt go down with injury and Collins had never played?

I'm positive that we would have won the SB that year. We would have beaten Pittsburgh and our defense would have contained Warner and the Cardinals IMO. I think we beat the Ravens if they didn't purposely injure CJ. There so many moments in that game that pissed me off: t he CJ injury, the fumble by Crumpler, and the fact that refs didn't call a delay of game penalty on the Ravens scoring drive late in the 4th.

Lots of "The Eagles lost this game more than the Titans won it". That's fine, keep doubting.

B/R said in their power rankings that the Eagle's secondary is bad. They justify their disappointment in the eagle's secondary by saying they allowed 350+ yards in the air to a team averaging 164 YPG. I don't think they realized that the Titan's passing YPG is directly a result of the fact our starting QB played a total of 4 quarters across two games with two of those quarters playing with a significant elbow injury.

ESPN blamed the loss on the Eagle's offensive line and numerous drops. Anyone watching the game knows the Titans had not only more drops but more important drops than the Eagles. It's amazing barely any credit was given to Pees for his relentless blitzing. Next week should be a good test. We know the Bills are bad but let's see if the Titans can come out and dominate and not play down to their competition's level.

Jesus, that B/R take is lazy hell. Not one second of research done towards the Titans' 3 previous games. As for ESPN, I don't recall the Eagles having very many if any important drops. Meanwhile just off the top of my head, Jonnu Smith and Darius Jennings both dropped passes that would have likely led directly to points. This continued disrespect is good for the team though, especially with the Bills coming up next.

I really hate when the classic cliche this team lost more than the other team won, they beat themselves, or new excuses are given for a team losing instead of giving the winning team that undeniably more won the deserved and logical credit.

The Eagles played great and didn't finish chances to win including before and during overtime, were shooting themselves with penalties, Titans played greater because they came back from 17-3, defended when needed most after giving up 2 consecutive touchdowns, and were able to not just move the ball past midfield in Overtime they scored a touchdown which the Eagles have no valid excuse while they made a mistake of not seeing what the Titans used until to late doesn't change the Titans executed a busted coverage.

Also SportsCenter top moments of nfl week 4 I highly regret I didn't stop laying down on the couch before the Long NL Wildcard game ended since I didn't see the NFL week 4 TOP moments because most likely the Titans game winning drive in Overtime was on that best of NFL week 4.

The Eagles defense needs to stop playing like the refs are blind and then complaining like they didn't hold, PI, etc.
It's logical to complain about a bad, phantom or awful call because those shouldn't happen unless a penalty really didn't happen.

It is an entirely different animal along with asinine, moronic, and dumb is be obvious commit penalties which Holding and PI usually are then the guilty player to complain like they didn't commit they aren't obviously and unmistakably guilty.

That's like a person hitting a person's Car or Bicycle that belongs to another person, then complaining to any witnesses that saw the damage of property crime along with others as in this is a mistake he or she didn't commit that crime when obviously the person did damage that car or bicycle.

Maybe only 1 Eagle defender complained about a obvious penalty that he committed , I do recall a Eagles defender in regulation grabbing a Titans WR to hinder his movement then complaining to the referee like he wasn't guilty.

And if you want to watch The First Thing 1st reaction video no doubt no credit given to the Titans.
Ever since First Take it's inspired others to create same Sports Analysis shows that are mostly the same including Undisputed.

Really can't deny the Titans like the 1999 Titans are a exciting great team to watch.
LA Super Rams playing like the Warner Rams so highly possibly the Super Rams a excellent scoring offense makes the Super Bowl returning to Atlanta , and possible the Titans a team not expected to play in the Super Bowl much like the 1999 team makes it to the Super Bowl.

Apparently we're breaking out the light blue pants at Buffalo this Sunday.

I really thought like other nfl teams that the other color uniforms that aren't white would be used for home games.

Because I wanted something current 2018 I changed my avatar to Titans qb throwing from the week 3 game at Jaguars.

They probably will when it gets cooler. They want the visiting team to wear dark colors as they trap heat unlike white.
