The talent isn't there, but the motivation and effort should ALWAYS be there. This team should be run out of town. They are a disgrace to the former Vols who gave their all. Last night I saw a defense quit in the 1st qtr. They were out of position all night. Missed tackles constantly, slow to react. Either these players are too stupid to coach,or the coaches are incompetent.

The offensive line is extremely overrated. The QB played as expected. Not blaming him,he at least tried hard.

Bottom line is UT football has hit rock bottom. Maybe Jones can resurrect it,I doubt it. Next year will be a gauge of how Jones' system will work or not.

You're joking right? I believe the last 2 games cancelled that one out.

I think it is odd. If we can beat USC why can't we at the very least be competitive in the Missouri game? Wasn't expecting a win but jeez...

No, they don't. If you think we are at rock bottom right now because we got whipped by another top 10 team on the road, well, I'm not surprised. I'd call rock bottom the ky loss or vandy ass whipping, but that's just me and I tend to not be an emotional basketcase after each game.

Absolutely not. That was a program changing win. We got throttled by two Top 10 teams. Big deal. It's all part of a process. Butch is learning, so are his coaches. And we had a damn True Freshman at QB yesterday on the road vs a Top 10 team playing to get in the SEC Championship. That win was cancelled out.

UT had already hit rock bottom. Butch is trying to dig us out from the bottom up. So the Carolina win didn't mean much to you, huh? Stick around, give Butch a couple years and see what happens! Hang in there.:salute:
GO VOLS!

Cancelled the win out??????:lolabove:

It takes time to fully turn a program around. Ups and downs, especially the first year. Jones beating the Ole Ball Coach doesnt get cancelled out, sorry fella.

You're right, I just checked the schedule and there's a big red X right through the SEC game....

But really, you just said one of the more ignorant things I've heard in awhile.

Edit: USC not SEC

i agree sparty, but to some extent it doesn't mean as much when you get blown out and play bad 2 weeks in a row.

disappointing for sure. Fact is that it's not difficult to see why we get blown out on the road at #1 and at #9. Talent and speed differential is ridiculous. Of course there are other issues, but even good teams have issues and talent/speed overcomes mistakes.

We are digressing in almost every phase of the game. I can handle getting whipped but the lack of effort is concerning.

for example, on that little wr screen where their wr beat 7 defensive players by simply running sideways and outrunning them all, was that a lack of effort? No. It was a lack of speed, talent and bad angles. When Byron Moore comes up in the open field and gets run by, he is trying his best. No doubt teams get dejected at times when getting their asses beat, but I don't think guys try to drop balls, get tackled or miss tackles on purpose out there.

true, very little execution in that game. poor blocking, tackling, blown coverages, and dropped passes. just flat out ugly.

I just find it hard to believe we are that far behind in the talent department to MO. Bama I belive the gap is canyoness but MO?

It's just no talent and depth. And our terrible schedule doesn't help either. It has got to be the hardest in ncaa history. We will play a lot better at home this Saturday. A 6-6 record is what we all should be hoping for. Most fans on here need a reality check, no talent, depth, schedule, and a first year HC (not to mention he's the forth we had in a really short period).....that's a tough task for any coach. If we beat ky and vandy we make a bowl. Making a bowl, and the great recruiting butch has been doing is huge. This is the worst it will be at ut.

Lack of proper technique and not playing assignment football weighted with a horrendous defensive game plan against a #2 backup QB will get your ass beat every time.
