is really starting to piss me off. It seems we could really get screwed this year because of it. It really bugs me knowing we have 6/7 legitimate blue-chippers still considering the Vols, yet we only have 3 spots left.

Why would the SEC care how many people we sign? No matter what we will always have 85 Scholarships to give. We should be allowed to use them at our own disgression.

Sorry, the thought of telling three big time OL, a four start DT, and two 5 star WRs that there MIGHT NOT be room for them is totally asinine.

you are out of your mind. If all those people decided to pick the vols, they would have schollys waiting on them. Go take a smoke break, Jesus.

How could it possibly screw us? We can't bring in 4 or 5 guys that have no chance of qualifying?

I'd rather sign guys that I know are going to qualify, personally. We still have room to oversign 3 guys that are sign and place. I would say that's plenty.

If we have 7 scholly's left, and 10 players......we take the best 7 players and move on.

Maybe I just don't know the rule, but how do we oversign if we only have 3 commit slots left?

I don't think he understands the rule.

The rule needed to be in place...what ole miss did was ridiculous. This way make sure we acquire that guys that will qualify

Unless the entire NCAA adopts the rule, it is a bad idea. It actually puts SEC teams at a distinct disadvantage.

I get so tired of explaining this rule to people. I know I've said it at least 20 times, probably closer to 50.

I'm pretty sure the SEC will manage just fine. Just take a look at the classes around the SEC

everyone needs to chill out...if you haven't heard already Dooley has a plan for everything and was a AD..do you really think he is dumb enough to run out of room for Ambles, Rogers, Stone, Robinson if they choose to come???

Stone is prob the only certain one..and the other 3 are on the fence with most likely option of pulling Rogers.....Ambles looks better than it did a day ago but in the end I still see him at USC.. quit mentioning Chaz Green he is USC or FLA with TN at 0% chance.

We have plenty of room

I dont understand the rules . We signed 22 last year, so we should backcount 3 to give 25. Then we can sign 28 this year and we must place 3 in JC . So, 25 signed + 3 JC + 3 backcount= 31 scholarships , Does this sound correct?

The guy at the bottom of the list will be told it would be in his best interest to look for another school and a spot will open up for the 5*.

Im sure if we only have 3 slots left and we end up getting 4 or 5 more commits I would think the coaches would pull someones offer off the table to make room.

You're forgetting Montori Hughes. That's 23 last year, backcount 2. That means we can enroll 27, but I think you will see us sign more than that.

there probably should be a link on here with an excel sheet describing the last few years of recruiting with dismissals, transfers, JUCO's, etc. all put in to show how many we can sign. there's no way i could do it, but it might help with having to explain it so many times. maybe a stupid idea, but jmo

Any chance some of these guys get asked to walk-on and earn a scholarship if we sign some of the more sought after recruits on signing day???

The 25 enrolled per academic year means you only add last year's short amount to this year's 25 limit.

Any dismissals, transfers, etc don't matter to this limit.

They matter to the 85 total scholarship limit, which, even with a full class, we won't be up against.

No spreadsheet required. No need to go back a few years.

Our number is 27 + up to 3 sign and place. Its as simple as that.
